Hot Guys Bring the Heat For Cleo Bachelor of the Year

This morning’s Cleo Bachelor of the Year media call brought together a selection of the Top 50 eligible men vying to take out the 2012 title. MasterChef’s Hayden Quinn, The X Factor’s Johnny Ruffo, The Celebrity Apprentice’s Nathan Jolliffe, Timomatic and more hot guys lined the balcony at Café Sydney for photos before speaking and mingling with media. Cleo Bachelor of the Year is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and even though there may be a few obvious names missing — such as Aussies who have broken out on an international scale — Cleo editor Gemma Crisp says of the contenders, “I think it’s important that it’s accessible, that these are the sorts of guys where if you saw them in a pub you could go up to them and say, ‘Hi!’ rather than getting brushed off.” The new issue of Cleo is on sale now — check out what some of the Bachelors had to say when we spoke to them!

Johnny Ruffo on being in Cleo’s Top 50 Bachelors: “It’s a good feeling. People out there obviously see you as a potential partner, a bit of a catch. It’s cool to know that there are girls out there who think you’re an eligible bachelor! I’m trying to sabotage my competition and trip them over, but I’m not doing a good job of that!”
Lachlan Cosgrove, BATG winner, on his Bachelor competition: “There are some attractive fellas here, I’ll tell you that! I’m hoping that ‘geek chic’ will help me stand out and be a point of difference — the glasses, the braces [laughs]. I’ve got some very stiff competition but they all seem like fantastic guys.”
Hayden Quinn on early buzz that he’s the favourite to win this year: “That was in the paper yesterday, wasn’t it? I got that sent to me in a text from a friend with a photo and it’s always funny when you get those. It would be nice to be the dark horse, I suppose. It’s cool that people think I have the ability to win it. Especially this year — all the guys are obviously good-looking blokes, and fit, healthy, with lots of talents, but it’s not just about having a six-pack or anything like that. It’s about what you do at work, at home, in the community — all those things. And Bachelor of the Year highlights a few of those things that you may not realise about the guy you see on the TV, or on the football field, or when you listen to their music.”
