Wanna know what's been keeping us busy at POPSUGAR this week? We were thrown into the glitz and glamour of The Great Gatsby when we hit the red carpet at the film's Sydney premiere. Between chatting to Joel Edgerton, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, we were treated to a visual feast as guests came dressed in 1920's theme; a standout was one of the film's stars, Elizabeth Debicki, in her Dior dazzler. Speaking of all things pretty, Ali went to many showings this week and spied great new shoes and apparel coming our way for Spring/Summer, while Alison got up close and personal with new scents and a cool new makeup collaboration. Oh, and then there were the CLEO Bachelors of the Year. . .
The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has been busy as she nears the eight-month mark in her pregnancy. We have the latest on her afternoon with her in-laws and details on what Prince William has been doing this week. Plus, what went down on James and Pippa Middleton's double date? Get the details! On Allie: Rag & Bone tee, Club Monaco blazer.
Michelle Bridges has confirmed that she has dating her fellow The Biggest Loser personal trainer, Steve “The Commando” Willis. Who magazine scored an exclusive interview with Michelle, who also did some radio interviews this morning that went into her new relationship status. Michelle, who split from her husband of nine years, Bill Moore, in March (they’re still business partners), denies that she had an affair with Steve, who also recently split from his partner, Froso; they have two children together. Michelle is adamant that her relationship with Steve only evolved when they were both single.
When asked if they had an affair, Michelle said, “Absolutely not,” and added, “It’s [the relationship] only developed since both of us have separated from our partners. And we needed some private space before we went public.”
Michelle, who has known Steve for almost eight years and brought him as her date to the recent InStyle Women of Style Awards, maintains that she’s still great friends with ex-husband Bill, and that his happiness is still incredibly important to her. As for her romance with Steve, she hasn’t planned too much in advance because “right now it’s just one day at a time.” You can read her full interview in Who, on sale now.
Mel B stripped down to a blue and white bikini when she had a yacht party with a group of friends and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, in Cannes on Wednesday. The couple were in the South of France to attend a charity dinner on Tuesday with model Natalia Vodianova. Mel spoke at the event, which raised money for the Naked Heart Foundation and FilmAid. She will soon be back on a plane yet again to return to the UK where she hinted she may meet up with her former Spice Girls pals. Mel wrote about her trip in a blog entry last week while shooting down news of a reunion. She wrote, "Press as usual writing BS about Spice Girls. As usual, us girls know what's gonna happen, so they just need to shut up. Heading to Cannes Cinemoi and UK to see my Spices, yippee." Maybe Mel will have a chance to meet up with Victoria Beckham, who is settling down after news broke that her husband, David Beckham, is retiring from soccer. Victoria and her family travelled to Paris last weekend to watch David play his final home game with PSG. The team has one more game to play this weekend, but it isn't clear if David will take the field for that match.
If you were hoping to see more of Jennifer Aniston's naughty side after her turn in Horrible Bosses, then the trailer for her new film, We're the Millers, is probably up your alley. Aniston stars as a stripper who agrees to go along on a mission with her drug-dealing neighbour (Jason Sudeikis), posing as said neighbour's wife. They also enlist a couple of random kids (one of which is played by Emma Roberts) to help them cross the border into Mexico.
The preview has a few laughs, and also feels a bit like a who's who of the comedy world, with appearances by Ed Helms, Kathryn Hahn, Ken Marino and Nick Offerman. I support any project that breaks Aniston out of the typically cheesy romantic comedy formula, and let's face it: we all know she has a bikini bod that's worth flaunting, and there's plenty of that here. Plus, she and Sudeikis just might make a dysfunctional pair worth rooting for.
We're the Millers hits cinemas Aug. 15, but check out the trailer when you keep reading.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart reportedly split last weekend, and now Us Weekly claims that a big reason behind the breakup was Kristen's scandal with Rupert Sanders last July. Sources told the magazine that Rob put Kristen "through the ringer" about the affair and "held it over her head," even after they had gotten back together last year. One source continued, "Ultimately, it was like, 'Either we move past this or we don't.' It wasn't good for either of them."
Rob and Kristen allegedly split after Rob didn't attend a 27th birthday bash that Kristen had organised for him. Sources claim that Rob had a separate party at his home, which Kristen didn't attend. Robert Pattinson was spotted moving items out of Kristen's home on Sunday, with their two dogs, Bear and Bernie, by his side. For her part, Kristen hasn't been sulking alone at home since the news broke — she allegedly hung out with friend Taylor Swift over the weekend and was seen smiling during a dinner with pals in LA on Monday. Sources have left the idea of a reconciliation open ended, saying that the two could very well get back together.
One night of Gatsby glamour in Sydney simply wasn’t enough! Following on from the glitzy Australian premiere of The Great Gatsby on Wednesday, Tiffany & Co. and Vogue hosted an exclusive dinner at Neil Perry’s Rockpool Bar and Grill to welcome The Great Gatsby Collection of jewels into the country last night. Director Baz Luhrmann was on hand for the Jazz Age-inspired event, as were some of his stars: luminous leading ladies Carey Mulligan and Elizabeth Debicki, and Joel Edgerton, who brought his reported fiancée Alexis Blake. Models were decked out 1920s-style in dresses inspired by the era, and they also wore pieces from the collection, which were created in collaboration with Baz’s costume and production designer wife, Catherine Martin, and worn by the cast. The VIP event attracted a crowd that included Ricky Martin, Gracie Otto and Erica Packer, who were treated to Rockpool’s menu and a performance from Brendan Maclean.
It was a special night in France with the 20th annual amfAR gala taking place during the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. The event raises money for AIDS research, and this year, it featured The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show, as well as an auction. Guests were in for a special treat since a trip to space with Leonardo DiCaprio was up for bid! Before the fun began inside, though, stars hit the red carpet in their finest. Model Alessandra Ambrosio worked the cameras in a metallic gown while Goldie Hawn brought a pop of colour in yellow and Rosario Dawson kept it neutral in black. Milla Jovovich, Jessica Chastain, in a red Saint Laurent look, Sharon Stone, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and Ellie Goulding also made appearances.
The movie everyone is buzzing about is The Great Gatsby. It finally premiered in Sydney last night at the end of its promo tour, with the cast and crew walking the red carpet literally hundreds of metres away from where the bulk of the film was shot, and will be in cinemas from May 30. Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the iconic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald has been well-documented for lots of reasons, so let’s recap them now before you get lost in his 3D world.
1. The Great Gatsby has been brewing in Baz’s mind for about 10 years. He listened to the audio book while on a Trans-Siberian Railway trip — he doesn’t really like reading because he’s slow at it — and apparently had Leonardo DiCaprio, his leading man from 1996’s Romeo + Juliet, in mind for the titular role from that listening session.
