There's been a whole lot of Mad Men hubbub as we gear up for the premiere tonight! We've been prepping for the fourth season with some promos and polls, but what about everything that went down last season? Freshen up your memory and see if you can recall what your favourite characters have been up to with this quiz! Photo courtesy of AMC
Joshua Jackson gets in tune with nature on the cover of the Autumn issue of NUVO magazine. The Fringe star, who has been busy shooting the show in Vancouver, opens up to the Canadian publication about longtime girlfriend Diane Kruger. While the actor admits that some of his past relationships failed because he was a bit of a workaholic, he insists that he won't let that happen this time around. He says, "With Diane, I've made sure she stays in the premier position. And all of a sudden I've realised, oh look, I can have a life and do my job. This is really nice." The devotion clearly goes both ways.
Start the countdown! It's only a couple of hours until Mad Men starts back up, which means it's time to go into premiere prep mode. I've already kicked things off by giving you a look at the show's actors before they hit the big time, but let's discuss the characters themselves. Over the past three seasons, we've come to know Betty, Pete, Don (er, scratch that, can anyone really know Don?), and I'm sure you have a personal favourite in the cast. Maybe you enjoy Joan's sassy remarks and signature sashay, Peggy's ambition, or you can't help but love Roger's charm despite his foibles. I realise it's tough to pick and choose, but who keeps you tuning in week after week? Vote, and then make your argument in the comments!
On what he likes about playing Jason Stackhouse: “I think too much. Even in this answer. My brain is forever coming up with these options. Maybe I could do it this way or that way. But Jason, whether you call it lack of thought or willpower, he’s one of these guys, and we all know one, who totally acts in the spur of the moment. He has no real regard for the consequences of what may happen. It’s really liberating to play a character like that because I would stop at the edge of a cliff and think ‘Whoa’. He’d just jump off.”
On maintaining his private life: “Occasionally I get paparazzi, like this week when I finished yoga, there were 10 waiting outside. But I’m not very newsworthy. I’m still a very private person. I want to leave all the drama in my life on the set. I’m not going to call my publicist from a restaurant and say, ‘I’ll be leaving at 7:57. Make sure there’s a photographer outside.’ Giving my life up like that would be taking a little bit of my soul. I think some people think they’re constantly on show. I don’t want to live like that.”
The launch issue of GQ Style is on sale now for $10.95 at selected newsagents and Borders.
Considering their ever-growing popularity, it’s no surprise that the latest people to get Simpson-ised are none other than some of our favourite Gleeks! Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) from Glee will get the yellow treatment when The Simpsons kicks off its 22nd season. Their real-life counterparts will voice them in an episode called “Elementary School Musical”, where Lisa Simpson goes to a performing arts camp and gets caught up in the showbiz lifestyle. And for Flight of the Conchords fans, you’re also in luck: Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie will be starring/voicing as camp counsellors! No word yet on when the episode will hit our screens (the US gets it on Sept. 26) but for now check out these cute, animated Gleeks!
Rachel McAdams was spotting chatting with friends outside her trailer as she took a break from filming The Vow in Toronto yesterday. She and co-star Channing Tatum play a married couple, and as they're both alums of Nicholas Sparks movies (she was in The Notebook, he was in Dear John) they won't have any problems pulling off the romance. Scott Speedman is also co-starring, meaning lucky Rachel will find herself torn between two good-looking men in this upcoming drama.
Yesterday we ogled the first batch of new photos from Glee's second season, and now here's some music to go with that eye candy. In the first promo for the show, we hear the gleeks rock out to Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" (because, you know, Nationals are in New York this year). Meanwhile, Finn admits he still has feelings for Quinn, Terri's back, and Sue is still . . . Sue. It's just a quick peek, but it was more than enough to give me the chills. Watch, then start wishing it would just premiere already!
It's finally here! We've been waiting months to find out what will happen at the new Sterling-Cooper-Draper-Pryce and tonight our beloved Mad Men will return at last. Woot! We've been counting down to the season four premiere with everything from flashbacks to sneak peeks to mag covers and even some new pics. The retro-licious series will air at 8.30pm on Movie Extra, so tell us: will you be tuning in to the season four premiere of Mad Men?
