Montana Cox is the winner of Australia’s Next Top Model 2011! The 18-year-old Melbourne beauty was announced as Australia’s pick for the title over Liz Braithwaite and Simone Holtznagel at a live finale held at the Sydney Opera House last night. In comparison to last year’s event, which made international headlines after Sarah Murdoch mistakenly crowned Kelsey Martinovich the winner instead of Amanda Ware, this year’s show was smooth sailing — Sarah, who not only hosts but is also executive producer, had an envelope for both eliminations to avoid repeating last year’s accident. Sarah has expressed her support for Montana and said yesterday, “Montana is our greatest discovery yet . . . Her win is so well deserved and earned. She’s worked very hard and impressed everyone. I know she will take on the international fashion world.” As for Australia’s new Top Model, who is currently completing her Year 12 exams, Montana called the whole experience “surreal. It’s an incredible way to finish the year. I am now in a great position to give modelling my best shot.”
