Spring Racing Carnival came to a close over the weekend with Emirates Stakes Day in Melbourne. Lots of stars who have been regulars at the different Spring Racing events dressed up once more for a day at Flemington Racecourse, for the race that Emma Freedman told us is known as a “family affair” with more of a “relaxed atmosphere.” One significant guest was missing from the line-up — Kim Kardashian was originally supposed to make an appearance at the Swisse marquee, but due to all the press she received in Sydney about her divorce from Kris Humphries instead of the Kardashian Kollection handbags she came to promote, she left Australia early on Friday. The Swisse marquee had to make do with a cardboard cut-out of Kim, which racegoers adorned with a hat. Among the celebrity crowd at Stakes Day were Rebecca Judd, Rachael Finch, Home and Away’s Rebecca Breeds, Luke Mitchell and Steve Peacocke, while Alexandra Richards brought some international star power.
