At yesterday's BAFTA New York celebration of Mad Men, the female cast members each showed off a different version of the metallic smoky eye. While their characters on the series would rarely be seen in such a dramatic beauty look, the modern-day women all wore the universal trend in a unique way. Christina Hendricks mixed a brown shadow with hints of shimmering pink to bring out her red hair and lipstick. Jessica Paré picked smudged eyeliner and taupe eye makeup for a classic sultry look. Finally, January Jones complemented her bright blue eyes with an indigo hue. Each star showed us how to customise the smoky eye look for different hair colours and features.

Mad Men's cast of leading ladies hit their season six premiere in LA — and safely covered a number of new season dress trends with their respective event looks. It's not the stuff you'll see Betty, Peggy, or Megan sporting on screen. January Jones brought a colour-blocked pastel blue Jonathan Suanders Spring '13 dress and metallic Louboutin heels to the red carpet. Elisabeth Moss sported a peplum-trimmed LBD by McQ Alexander McQueen — and a Lucite Charlotte Olympia clutch in hand — and Jessica Paré brought a gorgeous wash of colour and print on a Prabal Gurung sheath dress. The Cast of Mad Men Celebrates Their Season Premiere and an Engagement

Last night, the stars of Mad Men previewed the first episode of the upcoming sixth season for a VIP crowd at the Directors Guild of America's LA theatre.

Last night, the stars of Mad Men previewed the first episode of the upcoming sixth season for a VIP crowd at the Directors Guild of America's LA theatre. Jon Hamm, January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss were among the cast members who turned up for the premiere, but there was more than just a new season to celebrate. Their co-stars Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel, who had an arc on the show last season, just announced they are engaged! When we caught up with Jon last evening, he told us most of the cast has known about the happy news for a while and are all glad to be able to celebrate it publicly now. Jon attended the premiere with his long-time love, Jennifer Westfeldt, and Christina was joined by her husband, Geoffrey Arend, but Vincent appeared to arrive solo to the screening.

The Mad Men cast and the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, are notoriously tight-lipped about the plot. Still, they assured us that this season of Mad Men, which premieres on April 8, is worth tuning in for. Matthew spoke to us about Jon reprising his role as a director in 2013, Jon told us how portraying Don Draper has changed his life, and Elisabeth Moss talked about what it was like to transition from her 20s to her 30s on screen.

The Star-Studded AFI Awards Bring Out Ben, George, Jennifer, and More

The fun continued inside yesterday's AFI Awards in LA.

The fun continued inside yesterday's AFI Awards in LA. The bash, held at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, was held to honour the year's best in film and television. A total of 10 films, including Silver Linings Playbook, Argo, Les Misérables, and Lincoln, were supported by their stars and directors. Daniel Day-Lewis made the rounds with his co-star Sally Field and director Steven Spielberg, while Argo's Ben Affleck, fresh off a win in the best director category at the Critics' Choice Awards, was accompanied by his producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov.

The Silver Linings Playbook clan also had a good night at the Critics' Choice Awards. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence won top honours as best actor and actress in a comedy, and she also won best actress in an action movie for The Hunger Games. Their leading lady Jacki Weaver posed with Jennifer, and they were both in a celebratory mood because, in addition, their cast won best ensemble at the CCAs. The Les Mis crowd was well-represented, too. Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, and Hugh Jackman all attended. They said hello to friends from movies and television, which included cast members from Mad Men, like Christina Hendricks, and the stars of Girls, Modern Family, and more.

Elle Fanning wore Dolce & Gabbana to join Christina Hendricks at a screening of their movie Ginger & Rosa at The Paley Center in LA on Thursday night. Christina also opted for a long dress, and apparently she and Elle have a similar taste in clothes. Elle told us she and Christina bonded over shopping, saying, "She loves vintage just like me. We share the love of that — she looks amazing."

Elle also had kind words for her co-star in Maleficent, Angelina Jolie. Elle admitted to being nervous when she first met Angelina. She told us last night, "I remember going into Pinewood Studios and turning the corner in London, seeing her for the first time and thinking, 'There she is!' And she immediately just gave me a huge hug. And she said, 'We're going to have so much fun working together!' From that moment I was like, 'Oh my God — she's touching me!'" Angelina and Elle won't be on the big screen together until 2014, but Elle's Ginger & Rosa will be out early next year.
