Dirty Dancing Remake Being Made With Kenny Ortega Set to Direct

Do You Want to See a Remake of Dirty Dancing?

Movie remakes are nothing new, but it seems like we’re going to experience film déjà vu with yet another dance flick classic: Dirty Dancing! The movie that gave us the time of our lives with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in 1987 is going to be remade, with Kenny Ortega set to direct. If you’re not familiar with Kenny’s name, you’ll definitely know his work — he’s the man behind the High School Musical films, and he directed Michael Jackson’s This Is It. But the reason why Kenny is perfect for the remake is because he choreographed the dance numbers in the original Dirty Dancing. Kenny said, “The opportunity to direct Dirty Dancing is like returning home for me. Growing up in the ’60s on the dance floor helped define me as a person and as an artist.” This follows on from the new version of Footloose, which will be released later this year. So tell us — do you want to see a Dirty Dancing remake?
