Mad Men's cast of leading ladies hit their season six premiere in LA — and safely covered a number of new season dress trends with their respective event looks.

Mad Men's cast of leading ladies hit their season six premiere in LA — and safely covered a number of new season dress trends with their respective event looks. It's not the stuff you'll see Betty, Peggy, or Megan sporting on screen. January Jones brought a colour-blocked pastel blue Jonathan Suanders Spring '13 dress and metallic Louboutin heels to the red carpet. Elisabeth Moss sported a peplum-trimmed LBD by McQ Alexander McQueen — and a Lucite Charlotte Olympia clutch in hand — and Jessica Paré brought a gorgeous wash of colour and print on a Prabal Gurung sheath dress. For a look at all the arrivals, like Christina Hendricks in a curve-hugging L'Wren Scott A/W '12 number, keep clicking — then tell us which look gets your vote for best dressed.

The Cast of Mad Men Celebrates Their Season Premiere and an Engagement

Last night, the stars of Mad Men previewed the first episode of the upcoming sixth season for a VIP crowd at the Directors Guild of America's LA theatre.

Last night, the stars of Mad Men previewed the first episode of the upcoming sixth season for a VIP crowd at the Directors Guild of America's LA theatre. Jon Hamm, January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss were among the cast members who turned up for the premiere, but there was more than just a new season to celebrate. Their co-stars Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel, who had an arc on the show last season, just announced they are engaged! When we caught up with Jon last evening, he told us most of the cast has known about the happy news for a while and are all glad to be able to celebrate it publicly now. Jon attended the premiere with his long-time love, Jennifer Westfeldt, and Christina was joined by her husband, Geoffrey Arend, but Vincent appeared to arrive solo to the screening.

The Mad Men cast and the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, are notoriously tight-lipped about the plot. Still, they assured us that this season of Mad Men, which premieres on April 8, is worth tuning in for. Matthew spoke to us about Jon reprising his role as a director in 2013, Jon told us how portraying Don Draper has changed his life, and Elisabeth Moss talked about what it was like to transition from her 20s to her 30s on screen.

This Week's Top 20 Celebrity Beauty Looks

Two major events (and a couple of smaller ones) made sure all of our favourite celebrities were on high rotation this week.

Two major events (and a couple of smaller ones) made sure all of our favourite celebrities were on high rotation this week. At Monday's SAG Awards in LA, a bevy of Hollywood glamours stepped it up as they hurtle towards the end of the awards season. Marion Cotillard's sleek bob was perfectly coifed, as ever, and Rose Byrne knocked our socks off with a neon-meets-pastel pink lip. The night before, Jessica Alba stepped out with newly lightened locks (half of them, anyway) and a pop of candy pink on her lips. Meanwhile, here in Australia, our top actors and the like attended the AACTA Awards — but it was the hair and makeup on the red carpet that really stole the show. There's a lot to see this week, so start clicking through now!

The Not-So-Basic Black Dress Strikes Again (and Again) at the SAGs

It's official: we've spotted the not-so-basic black dress trend at not one, not two, but three awards shows so far.

It's official: we've spotted the not-so-basic black dress trend at not one, not two, but three awards shows so far. We first noticed it at the Critics' Choice Awards, then saw it crop up again at the Golden Globes, and now Claire Danes, Anne Hathaway, and Michelle Dockery (just to name a few) are opting for reinvented and reimagined black gowns at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. We're talking about dresses with sexy sheer cut-outs, high-shine embellishments, and strategically-placed ruffles. If there's one thing we can take away, it's that 2013 is the year we may take a second look at our go-to black dress in the back of our closets — it's time for an update.

Mauve Mavens: Whose Lipstick Did You Love the Most?

Slightly flushed lips are an easy way to add a natural-looking touch of colour, and there were plenty of celebrities sporting the look this week.

Slightly flushed lips are an easy way to add a natural-looking touch of colour, and there were plenty of celebrities sporting the look this week. Whether it was worn for a glamourous statement or a casually polished look, this shade had its moment on the red carpet. Jessica Chastain swiped a mauve hue on at the New York screening for Mama, while Elisabeth Moss tested it out at a Sundance Channel event. Also, Kate Bosworth was spotted in the universally flattering lip colour, which she paired with pink cheeks. All three ladies kept the rest of their makeup neutral, but whose lip look did you like best?

The Runway Hair Trend That Swept the Emmys Red Carpet

Exaggerated parts were all over the runway for Spring 2013, and last night they popped up on the Emmys red carpet.

Exaggerated parts were all over the runway for Spring 2013, and last night they popped up on the Emmys red carpet. How did stars style their deep side parts? The possibilities seemed endless. Kerry Washington opted for a classic chignon with lots of volume. Hairstylist Kiyah Wright's secret for Kerry's voluminous style was to tease the hair at the root. Then, she added a few clip-in extensions backward before parting her hair to bump up the volume.

Zosia Mamet added serious drama to her side part with a sleek and stylish bun. The Girls star's bold brows and simple makeup added even more emphasis to her side-swept up 'do. Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss added a tousled curl to her recent pixie cut, which countered and softened the severity of her deep part. Stylist Cervando Maldonado used both Velcro rollers and a curling iron to accentuate the wave in her style. To protect Elisabeth's hair, Maldonado used Wella Professionals Thermal Image spray before curling. If you're a little worried about testing out this dramatic part, follow Elisabeth's lead and keep the rest of the hair soft. This statement-making part looks just as great for everyday wear as it does for a glamorous night on the red carpet.

Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss turned up the drama in a floral-print Dolce & Gabbana strapless on today's Emmy Awards red carpet. But it wasn't just the dramatic print that caught our attention; the look took a sexier turn, thanks to the gown's attention-getting sculptural neckline and asymmetrical hemline that revealed a look at the actress's pins. Add to that the ruched waistline and vampy pointed-toe pumps, and it was an all-around sultry appearance from Elisabeth, who finished the look with a few sparkling add-ons, like an armful of diamond bracelets and a pearl-embellished clutch in hand. Proving that new hair really does equal a new you, Elisabeth Moss looks like a different person on the Emmys red carpet!

Proving that new hair really does equal a new you, Elisabeth Moss looks like a different person on the Emmys red carpet! She dyed her brown hair to white blonde a couple of months back and we love how she's styled it today. Elisabeth's makeup look is barely there with neat, black eyeliner on her top lid only, and clear, glossy lips. How blue do those eyes look?
