The trailer for The Five-Year Engagement has so much going for it that I'm almost afraid to jinx it. First, we've got Jason Segel and Emily Blunt as Tom and Violet, an adorable, engaged couple that are continually delaying their wedding date when other life matters (like job relocation) get in the way. Secondly, there's a promising supporting cast that includes Chris Pratt as Tom's BFF and Alison Brie as Violet's little sister. Third, the trailer has plenty of laugh-out-loud moments but still seems like a relatable romantic comedy.
My only complaint is that the trailer may give away too much, but I'm already a fan of the main characters; Tom is a lot like How I Met Your Mother's Marshall (a lovable, fun-loving kinda guy) and it's refreshing to see Blunt letting loose and showing her goofy side. Aussie Jacki Weaver also has a role as Blunt's posh mother. The film hits cinemas next May but check out the trailer when you read more.
