David Beckham joined his usual basketball buddy Justin Bieber last night to watch as the Lakers beat the Rockets 112-110 during their home opener. Sharing the courtside luxury were Leonardo DiCaprio and Denzel Washington after his Unstoppable premiere. David was back at the Staples Center after bringing his sons to see a Justin Bieber concert there on Monday. Justin was likewise out again, sitting next to his friend Jaden Smith. David also opened up to Ryan Seacrest about his boys getting older, showing his underwear on the soccer field last weekend, and his fondness for briefs. David said:

The entire Pinkett Smith family was out Monday night for the premiere of Jaden's new movie, The Karate Kid. Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith were inseparable on the red carpet when they weren't posing with fans, family and old friends, like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Tatyana Ali. But the evening belonged to Jaden Smith and his costar Jackie Chan, as well as the original film's karate kid, Ralph Macchio. Jaden is having quite the week after the MTV Movie Awards where he joked about his ladies' man status and fought with Tom Cruise in the Les Grossman opening. Jaden may be becoming quite the celebrity, but he apparently still feels as though his sister Willow gets more attention—during fights. He said, "I scream for my mum. She usually takes Willow's side. My dad takes Willow's side, too. That's why I usually hang out with my brother." Will has lately focused on playing the role of doting husband and father, but he's rumoured to be considering returning to the Men in Black franchise, this time in 3D. 
If you want to open up the MTV Movie Awards in a big way, have Les Grossman as your lead in. Tom Cruise has been slipping into his imitation of the foul-mouthed Hollywood producer with a series of funny promos and he was back to kick off the award ceremony today—with a little help from Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and more big names. Eclipse's dueling heartthrobs showed up on Les' behalf to do a spoofy Bad-Ass Cops show, while Tom's real life BFF Will Smith also made an appearance. While I would've liked to have seen more of the boys in the police get-ups, the opening definitely had me chuckling. What did you think of the big Les beginning?
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet was a star-studded affair with everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Kristen Stewart stepping out in style. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens stuck together on their way into the show, while funny guys Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill made time for a photo op and Jessica Biel strolled in solo. The remakes keep on coming (I know, I know, collective groan). Following the news that Will Smith's son Jaden and Jackie Chan are stepping into roles for an update of The Karate Kid, comes a peek at the first trailer. 
Judging by the preview, the general premise appears to be the same (boy gets harassed, trains in martial arts and then faces his tormentor in competition), but this new version is definitely geared more to a family audience. Jaden Smith is teeny tiny in the Ralph Macchio part, the bullies are basically a Beijing elementary school yard gang and a sweet, but baby-faced love interest is sitting in for Elisabeth Shue. All of this just makes me want to go back and watch the original (particularly Mr. Miyagi's wax on, wax off scene) and leave this new update for the kiddies. I just can't get myself excited for the story when it's taken on such a younger twist, and I found myself chuckling over the film's villains — who are supposed to be threatening. Still, Taraji P. Henson is playing the mum, so that's a plus in my column. The Karate Kid high kicks into theatres September 16, 2010. Check out the trailer, and tell me what you think.
