Jake Gyllenhaal stepped out to support mum Naomi Foner, the screenwriter behind Very Good Girls, at the film's Sundance Film Festival premiere yesterday. He was joined by brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard, who's married to Maggie Gyllenhaal and also stars in the picture. It was an extra busy night for Peter, since he also debuted Lovelace with Amanda Seyfried. Very Good Girls leading lady Dakota Fanning attended the screening at the Eccles Center theater and later on linked up with her and Peter's co-star Elizabeth Olsen at an after party. Jake made the rounds with his pal Jenny Lewis. He looked good while doing so — Jake has a new look, with slicked-back hair, for a new project. He's been in Georgia making Prisoners with Hugh Jackman.

Jay-Z and Coldplay rang in 2013 together with a joint New Year's Eve concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Monday night. Coldplay played the first set while Jay-Z took the stage shortly before midnight. Jay-Z and Chris Martin joined up for the countdown and to sing "Auld Lang Syne." Once Chris was finished belting out the New Year's staple, he flowed into Jay-Z's "Run This Town," filling in for Rihanna's chorus. While Jay-Z and Chris were rocking, Chris's wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and their children, Apple and Moses, danced on stage. They weren't the only celebrities in the audience since Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted chatting with Jay-Z backstage and Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend, Matt Rutler, were also on hand. Once the concert was over, Chris and Jay-Z headed to the 40/40 Club for an afterparty without Gwyneth, who headed home with Apple and Moses.

This isn't Jake's first attempt at theatre — he made his stage debut in the 2002 London production of This Is Our Youth. Jake's been busy in recent days, balancing two opening projects. He sat down with press at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month to chat up his police drama, End of Watch. Jake has a clean-shaven face — and head — in the film, but lately Jake's been sporting a self-described "grizzly" look for his stage role. Jessica Chastain and Michael Peña were among the stars on hand on Thursday to support Jake and the rest of the cast.
