Stars came out for the gala opening night of The Book of Mormon in LA on Wednesday night. Busy Philipps chose a floral dress for the special occasion while Zoe Saldana, fresh off promoting The Words, wore black Stella McCartney. Christina Hendricks was back on the West Coast after a visit to Toronto while Kellan Lutz popped up with Aussie girlfriend Sharni Vinson. Viola Davis stood out in a purple look as she hit the red carpet alongside Malin Akerman, Shailene Woodley, Neil Patrick Harris, and Julie Bowen. Joy Bryant smiled big, as did Lisa Kudrow, Perrey Reeves, and Alicia Silverstone. The Broadway play is settling in Hollywood until the end of November, when it then moves on to a five-week engagement in San Francisco.
Kristen, Dax, and Bradley Hit the Red Carpet For a Funny Premiere
It was a star-studded red carpet at Tuesday night's premiere of Hit and Run (out Sep. 6) at Regal Cinemas in LA. Dax Shepard, who wrote and directed the film, arrived in style with his leading lady, and fiancée, Kristen Bell, by his side. Kristen rocked a black satin jumpsuit, while co-star Bradley Cooper sported a sexy leather jacket. The stars all took time to sign autographs for fans who were lining the streets before joining castmates Jason Bateman, Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Arnold, Ryan Hansen, and Joy Bryant for group photos. It looked like they had a great time filming since their red carpet reunion was filled with plenty of laughter. We asked the stars how Dax stacked up as a director and Ryan jokingly rated him an 8.5, saying, "He's got some work to do," while Bradley simply said, "He's awesome; he's incredible." Bradley also mentioned he'd love to try his hand at directing soon, too.
Naturally, Statement Jewels and Prints Rule at Dannijo + Tucker's Fête
When Dannijo and Tucker host a party, you can count on two things: bold prints and equally bold jewels to match. The celebs that flocked to the statement jeweller's and pattern pro's tea party in Beverly Hills over the weekend were a lesson in pulling off brilliant colour and all-over print, not to mention equally eye-catching baubles. Note: the kind of lesson that lends itself perfectly to styling chic cocktail wear. If you're in need of a little inspiration, step inside — Jordana Brewster's butterfly-print pencil skirt, Mandy Moore's vibrant little sheath (and patterned wedges), and Michelle Monaghan's silky print pants are just the beginning.
Demi Moore Returns to the Spotlight to Help Toast a Pal's New Show
Rachel Zoe and Demi Moore helped their pal Amanda de Cadenet kick off her new TV show in LA Tuesday night. The ladies teamed up with InStyle and the magazine's editor Ariel Foxman to toast the program, called The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet at a private home in Beverly Hills. The event was Demi Moore's first public outing since leaving a rehab program she entered in January. Demi also announced yesterday that she's ready for another big change: changing her twitter handle from @MrsKutcher. Demi tweeted that she is taking suggestions, but has yet to pick her new moniker.
Demi posed for photos alongside Rachel, as well as other actresses like Joy Bryant, Kelly Preston and Jordana Brewster. Amanda, a British TV personality married to musician Nick Valensi of The Strokes, is the host of the show, which features interviews with stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga and Jane Fonda about issues important to women.
Elle, Dianna and More Join Alexa at Her Madewell Launch
Alexa Chung was joined by some fashionable friends at the launch of her latest Madewell collection at the Chateau Marmont on Wednesday night. To accompany the clothes, Alexa also created a little “xine” for the label, which features some of her cute illustrations and fun cut-out masks. Among the guests celebrating her range were Kate Bosworth, Dianna Agron, Abbie Cornish, and a smiley Elle Fanning; lots of these stars were also regulars at New York Fashion Week. It’s been a busy month of style-related activities for Alexa, who was also in Sydney at the end of August as the international ambassador for ACP Magazines’ 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty.
Scope Alexa Chung for Madewell's Cool Crew
Yesterday, Alexa Chung for Madewell's coveted A/W '11 collection hit stores and the online in the States, but last night a few very styled — and Madewell-clad — celebs flocked to the Chateau Marmont to join InStyle and Alexa Chung in celebrating the launch of her new Madewell goodies. Among the guests, we spotted Elle Fanning in the super-sweet lace dress we've been eying from the collection; Kate Bosworth stepping out in a cool, printed sheath; and Alexa, of course, rocking a few of her favourite pieces from the new line. 2011 Met Costume Institute Gala: Joy Bryant
Joy Bryant arrived on the Met Gala red carpet wearing a Missoni knit dress — a suitable choice, considering she was chatting with Margherita Missoni before heading inside. The warm red, orange, and pink hues are a beautiful choice, and dangling earrings lend a bohemian vibe. Does this cosy ensemble hit all the right notes, or do you long for a more dramatic dress?
