All the Stars at the Berlin Film Festival
It's been a star-studded few days in Berlin, where Anne Hathaway, James Franco, Rooney Mara and many more celebs have popped up to premiere their films at the Berlin International Film Festival. Today, Rooney Mara and Jude Law met up in the German capital to present their film, Side Effects. Earlier in the festival, a Chanel-clad Anne linked up with Les Misérables co-star Hugh Jackman to promote their hit project. Channing, Rooney, and Jude Team Up For Their Side Effects Premiere
Rooney Mara was joined by her co-stars Channing Tatum, Jude Law, and Catherine Zeta-Jones for the New York premiere of Side Effects last night. She wore a white Alexander McQueen dress and Nicholas Kirkwood pumps while Catherine donned a black lace Michael Kors frock. Catherine's husband, Michael Douglas, walked her down the red carpet, which included visits from some of New York's fashion elite, like Donna Karan and Rachel Roy.
Kate Mara joined her sister, Rooney, at the event after Rooney attended Kate's House of Cards premiere on Thursday. It's been a busy week for the duo, who have both been doing press for their two new releases. Rooney attended a Side Effects Q&A with director Steven Soderbergh and Jude in the Big Apple earlier this week and Kate made the party rounds for her new series in DC and NYC.
Jude Law and Rooney Mara Couple Up For a Side Effects Screening
Jude Law and a Band of Outsiders-clad Rooney Mara teamed up in NYC yesterday for a special screening and Q&A session for their new Steven Soderbergh film, Side Effects. Rooney and Jude were joined by Steven himself, as well as their co-star Vinessa Shaw and screenwriter Scott Z. Burns. Missing from the panel, though, were leading man Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It was a busy day for both Rooney and Jude. He managed to also fit in a stop by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Jude and Jimmy reminisced about their first fights as children and chatted about Side Effects. In particular, Jude gushed about Rooney, whom he referred to as "a very cool lady" and a "great actress." Rooney, meanwhile, had a family night. She later stepped out to support sister Kate Mara at her debut of the new series House of Cards.
Elle Fanning Goes Pink to Watch Jude Law Win at the BIFAs
Brits and non-Brits alike were out at the British Independent Film Awards in London on Sunday night. Anna Karenina star Jude Law took home the Variety Award while the drama Broken took home the top prize of best British independent film. Andrea Riseborough, who was spotted sharing a laugh with The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston, won the Best Actress award for her role in Shadow Dancer.
Felicity Jones, Tom Felton, Elle Fanning and Aussie rising star Alice Englert were also on hand at the award show. Elle stole the show in a princess-like pink Oscar de la Renta gown, which was fitting for her latest role. She recently wrapped filming Disney's Maleficent, in which she plays Princess Aurora. The movie pits Elle against Angelina Jolie, who plays the villain Maleficent. Elle told us last month that she was completely starstruck by Angelina when she first met her, even silently freaking out when the A-list mum so much as touched her.
Side Effects Trailer: Channing Tatum and Rooney Mara Are in Trouble
Channing Tatum tackled romance, comedy, and, um, stripping in 2012, but the actor is popping up in yet another genre in 2013: the thriller. In Side Effects (formerly titled The Bitter Pill), Tatum re-teams with his Magic Mike director, Steven Soderbergh, but the results are decidedly less fun this time around. Tatum plays husband to Rooney Mara's Emily, who lands in hot water after she starts taking a new medication and is linked to a murder. Naturally, her doctor (Jude Law) is also in the thick of the mess, especially when it becomes implied that their relationship isn't strictly professional.

The preview starts out showcasing Tatum and Mara's onscreen romance before quickly unravelling and heading into very bleak territory. Though the trailer doesn't give much away in terms of plot, that's exactly what I like about it — there's clearly something sinister happening here, but I feel plenty of twists coming on. Side Effects is released on March 7.

Jude Law Says His Character in Anna Karenina Is Not "Just a Convenient Bad Guy"
In upcoming film Anna Karenina, Jude Law plays Alexei Karenin, the cuckolded husband of the title character (played by Keira Knightley). We talked to the actor about the period film and his character, and Law explained why he wanted to make Karenin sympathetic and more than just a bad guy. He also talked about Knightley, particularly how grown-up her performance is, as well as how the great script is the key to making the adaptation work so well.
