Katie Holmes was stunning in a backless white Calvin Klein gown at the Met Gala in NYC today. She was one of the first to arrive and stopped on the grand staircase on her way into the museum. Katie's no stranger to the annual fashion event, having attended in year's past with husband Tom Cruise. There are so many more stars to see on the carpet this evening so be sure to check out all the fashion and beauty favourites!
In honour of this week's focus on all things denim, we're looking to some of our most all-timing inspiring denim icons. Along with the LBD, a pair of well-fitting jeans is a wardrobe essential. Transeasonal, super-versatile, durable and eternally chic (when you pick the right cut), there's a reason why denim's become part of our modern uniform. Take a gander at these iconic denim looks for some classic inspiration. Think Claudia Schiffer in her bootcuts, Cher giving hers a bohemian spin, Alexa in her double denim, Farrah in her flares and Brooke Shields and her world-famous Calvins.
When BB cream — or blemish balm — hit shelves, it was revolutionary for women who wanted foundation-like coverage, minus the foundation. Then came CC cream — colour correcting — which met the needs of women suffering from redness or pigmentation problems. Now, there's a miracle cream for our hair. Earlier this year we reported on Katie Holmes's business deal as the face of US haircare brand Alterna, and now WWD reports on one of the first campaigns we'll see her star in — Caviar CC Cream Leave-in Hair Perfector. That's right, a CC cream for hair!
"It’s both a treatment and a styler and works on dryness and uneven texture for all skin types," Joan Malloy, president of Alterna Haircare tells WWD. With ingredients including caviar extract, vitamin C and a marine botanicals; we're excited to see the reviews. To those of you lucky enough to be travelling to the US in June, Alterna Caviar CC Cream Leave-in Hair Perfector will be sold exclusively at Sephora.
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes were joined by their co-star Bradley Cooper when they screened their new film, The Place Beyond the Pines, in NYC on Friday. Ryan wore a green velvet Gucci suit while his girlfriend, Eva, donned an orange Prada frock. Bradley made the trip to the Big Apple from Boston, where he is currently filming a still-untitled David O. Russell film alongside Amy Adams and his Silver Linings Playbook co-star Jennifer Lawrence. He was spotted earlier this month wearing pink curlers on set, but at the premiere he showed no signs of a wavier 'do, instead opting to slick his long hair back off his face.
Katie Holmes was also in attendance after returning to the Big Apple from a trip to Disney World with Suri. Fans of Ryan Gosling may want to catch this film, as the actor recently announced that he might be taking a break from acting. Don't forget to check out our review of The Place Beyond the Pines to see if Ryan's latest project is for you.
The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards roll into LA today, and we're getting ready by taking a look at the show's most memorable photos. Kids' Choice is always a fun event, and a great chance to see some of our favourite celebs with young family members.
There are many iconic moments from the ceremonies over the years. Jessica Simpson showed off her fit physique in a denim ensemble, and the Destiny's Child girls, including Beyoncé Knowles, revealed their abs in matching costumes. Kristen Stewart has graced the orange carpet, and even Johnny Depp has taken on the slimelight. Click through now to see all the exciting pics from past shows.
What do Katie Holmes and Katharine McPhee have in common? They both looked impossibly cool sitting courtside at the Knicks game in NYC on Thursday night. Holmes styled denim on denim, courtesy of a chambray shirt and ripped jeans, then finished it all off with neon red pumps. McPhee took a more utilitarian approach in an olive-green button-down top, black jeans, and black boots, then added a bunch of gold bangles for shine. Both ladies brought their off-duty A-game, but which look scores the most points?
Celebrities had their work cut out for them this week, that's for sure! Between hitting the SAG Awards on Monday (not to the mention all the pre-SAG parties!) and the AACTA Awards on Wednesday, they were up to their ears in red carpet events and glam nights out. There were multiple premieres happening around the same time across the globe, including ones for Australian Teresa Palmer's new film, Warm Bodies, and Diane Kruger's new German film. But it wasn't all glitz and glam! Some of the most beautiful pics we saw this week were of happy families reuniting — Keith Urban sure looked glad to have his girls back as they arrived home in Sydney. . . There's plenty more to see, so click through to catch up on the week's happenings!
Katie Holmes has inked yet another beauty deal, this time with US hair brand Alterna. Last year, she began a partnership with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. However, her new role will not only include being the face of the brand in advertising campaigns, but also as co-owner, she'll have a voice in product development. "I love that Alterna uses natural and organic ingredients and stays away from harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens," Katie told WWD. "It's good for my hair and good for the earth, so I feel good using it." In the future, Katie's new role might merge with her fashion endeavor Holmes & Yang. Alterna representatives teased the possibility of a limited-edition accessories project.
Katie isn't the first actress to break into the business side of beauty. Jennifer Aniston recently gained a stake in Living Proof. It seems brands are no longer on the hunt for just a gorgeous face; now being a spokesmodel requires business savvy. "Katie is a fashionista, a mother and an entrepreneur. In short, she is our consumer," said Joan Malloy, president of Alterna. "Like her, this is a brand that has been very much around, but hiding in plain sight."
Well here it is, the first, exclusive look at Katie Holmes for Bobbi Brown. The Broadway actress signed on as the first celebrity face of the brand back in September, with Bobbi adding that that Katie "epitomises the modern 'Bobbi woman'". In the first of two images to be used in the campaign, Katie oozes sophistication with a modern-day smoky eye — a beauty look that showcases Bobbi Brown's soon-to-be-released (March) Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks, reports Huff Post Style. "I've always been a fan of her makeup, because it’s so easy to apply," Katie said in a statement. "Her colour palettes aren’t extreme, so when I first started wearing makeup it felt comfortable and I didn’t feel like I had too much on, which can happen."
