Lea Michele chose the setting of The Ellen Degeneres Show and Ellen's company to open up for the first time on camera about Cory Monteith's death and what the past few months have been like for her. Lea stopped by Ellen's talk show for an interview, which airs Thursday, just days after releasing "Cannonball," the first single off her forthcoming album Louder. The Glee actress talked about what it meant for Kate Hudson to open up her home to Lea in her time of need, what made her want to write a song about Cory, and why she decided to return to work on the show that brought her together with Cory. Lea also share the story of "Cannonball," which was written by Sia, and how she is finding strength even through the grief.
Lea Michele is a scene-stealer for many reasons: Her chills-inducing pipes, her role as the fearless Rachel Berry on Fox’s hit show Glee, and, of course (for us beauty fanatics), her gig as the face of L’Oréal Paris haircare. So it’s no surprise that the cover art for her first solo album, Louder (out March 4), shows the triple threat in a strong, of-the-moment beauty look. Hair pro Mark Townsend created her wet bed head (which we already know is a major trend for Spring 2014), and makeup master Melanie Inglessis gave her an ultra-smoky, smudgy eye.
To copy Lea's look, simply apply heaps of eyeliner, head to a spinning class, and then let your hair down. OK, seriously: if you’re going to try this style at home, follow Lea’s lead by sweeping on bronzer and keeping the rest of your face minimal (her nude lips work perfectly). As for the hair, take a bit of pomade or gel in your hands and rub it onto your strands to add a dewy texture — but go easy as you want it to look slick and not greasy.
While we do have to wait until March (and counting!) for the full album to drop, you can stream her first pop single, “Cannonball,” which just dropped today:
And preorder her album on iTunes.
Lea Michele is known for playing Broadway-obsessed Rachel Berry on Glee, but in real life, she's making a run at pop stardom. At midnight, Lea dropped the first single from her album Louder, "Cannonball," which is similar in title and topic to Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" but has a totally different sound. The Sia-penned track talks about a breakdown with the lyrics, "I was scared to death, I was losing my mind," but instead of coming in like a wrecking ball, Lea has "got this new beginning" and will "fly like a cannonball." With soaring, emotional lyrics and a symphonic backing track, it has the potential to be the next big pop song — and Lea couldn't be more excited.
"Louder really encompasses my experiences over this past year and my journey as an artist up to this point," Lea said in a press release. "There's a lot of emotion, but it's also very encouraging and hopeful — it's about pushing forward and living your life in a way that's louder, stronger, and bolder. I'm so excited to share this new side of me with my fans."

What we wouldn't give to get dressed in Lea Michele's closet! When deciding what to wear to L'Oréal Paris's Women of Worth event last night, the star chose a dress from one of the most opulent collections of the season. The star stepped onto the red carpet in an embellished lace dress by Dolce & Gabbana — whose Fall collection became an instant hit due to its highly decorated wares and bejeweled headpieces.
What better way to make a regal, dramatic, and above all, stylish statement on the red carpet? See all angles of her look right here.

While Lea is hoping to comfort others with her resilience, she also revealed that she got help from an unexpected source in the days following Cory's death. Glee guest star Kate Hudson opened up her LA home to Lea and her family so that she could avoid the media that had gathered outside of her own home. Lea said, “I called [Kate] and said, ‘I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters].’ She was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.’ Like it was nothing. No one knew I was there. I’ll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me.”
Paris, Sydney and New York were buzzing with fashion events all week, making it even tougher to edit down the top ten best dressed celebrities.
Last night, Isabel Marant pulled in Parisian fashion darlings to launch her collaboration with H&M, and Kate Middleton continued her public displays of affection for Jenny Packham's designs in an elegant navy gown by the designer.
New York's A-list turned out to support their favourite designer names at Fashion Group International Night of Stars (making for some very label-studded style watching), while back home Erica Packer and Sarah Murdoch celebrated the launch of Vogue's November issue with a chic party on a yacht.

Is it just us, or does every CFDA event bring out the crème de la crème of Hollywood? Stars like Diane Kruger, Lena Dunham, and Emmy Rossum were all present at a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event, making it a platter of gorgeous faces. There are a bevy of beauty looks to inspire your everyday look; just keep clicking!
Victoria Beckham, Lea Michele and Lena Dunham put their most fashionable feet forward when they attended an event for CFDA and the Vogue Fashion Fund in LA yesterday. Lea, who took a quick break from filming Glee season five to attend the event, wore a Calvin Klein frock and chatted with friend Lily Collins at the event. Meanwhile, Lena mingled with Anna Wintour, furthering speculation that Lena may cover US Vogue in the near future. Other guests included Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, who may have gotten a moment to gush with Lena as the Girls creator revealed on Twitter yesterday that she's excited to see Jamie Dornan play Christian Grey. "I'm a monstrous Jamie Dornan fan," Lena tweeted after it was revealed that the actor would replace Charlie Hunnam in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, "Wasn't allowed to be attracted to him on The Fall because he played a sex murderer. Fifty Shades of Grey is my big chance!"
The dress code was garden party chic for the attendees at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runway show. Chateau Marmont was scattered with a pretty set that included Diane Kruger, Emmy Rossum, Lea Michele, and, of course, Anna Wintour at the party feting this year's finalists. And with an occasion that stylish, we expected no less than to see the stars wearing heavyweight labels — we're talking Rodarte, Cushnie et Ochs, Calvin Klein Collection, Oscar de la Renta, and more.
