Bright and Beautiful: Ace This All-Around Electric Palette

Pairing a bright-coloured eyeliner and an equally electric lipstick is a major beauty faux pas, right?

Pairing a bright-coloured eyeliner and an equally electric lipstick is a major beauty faux pas, right? Well, if Mandy Moore is any indication, this look is something that is absolutely wearable. The actress-singer paired a turquoise liner with a peachy orange lipstick, and the colour combination is all about knowing what works for you. Mandy's chocolate-brown eyes pop against the shimmery blue-green liner, so the first thing you've got to do is match your eye colour with your makeup colour:

  • Brown eyes: blue-green or purple.
  • Blue eyes: orange or bronze.
  • Hazel: purple or dark green.
  • Green: blue or gold.

Next, choose a lipstick colour. Reach for one that is the opposite of your liner hue. Mandy's orange colour works in a few ways: it's an amped-up neutral that doesn't compete with her blue eyeliner, but it also complements the warm undertones of her skin. Stick with opposite colours (like red and green or gold and purple), and you'll nail this look time and time again.

Stars came out to celebrate the opening of Rag & Bone's new flagship store in LA on Friday night. Cameron Diaz posed with pal Reese Witherspoon on her way into the event, which also brought out Emma Roberts, Mandy Moore and Kate Mara. It was Reese's first official red carpet since giving birth to son Tennessee James Toth in September. Reese has been all about the brand lately, wearing her Harrow booties and stocking up at the new shop on Thursday afternoon. Cameron, meanwhile, has been spending time with friends and met up with Gwyneth Paltrow for dinner on Monday and a group of ladies for lunch this Tuesday. Also on hand to toast the retail spot were Rag & Bone designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, stylists Meritt Elliott and Emily Current, and Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka.

Saturday's Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in LA was a family affair for stars including Rachel Zoe, Alessandra Ambrosio, Selma Blair, and Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romjin. The India-inspired event also drew Lauren Conrad and her boyfriend William Tell, who were spotted cosying up to each other in the VIP tent, Twilight star Ashley Greene, and Justin Long, among others. We spotted Justin horsing around with Jerry and Rebecca's twin daughters during the kid-friendly party, where fellow mums Rachel and Alessandra also did some bonding with their little ones.

The match was a close one, but polo star Nacho Figueras' team reigned supreme with a score of 10-9 after actress Ali Larter kicked things off by throwing out the first toss. Rachel presented the Ralph Lauren model with an oversized bottle of champagne during the awards ceremony, during which he was honoured as the day's MVP, with her son Skyler Berman and husband Rodger Berman by her side.

Natural Beauty Is The Look Du Jour At Polo Classic

We've gotten so accustomed to seeing statement lips/eyes/brows/hair/everything at the many celebrity events each week that when stars step out looking natural — like they have done at the Third Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles yesterday — we actually get a little bit excited.

It's so nice to see clear, glowing skin, natural lip colours and hair that looks carefree and easy to copy (very important, obviously). While each gorgeous celebrity had a key feature to make them stand out — Lauren Conrad's curls, Rachel Zoe's lip, Mandy Moore's alabaster skin — they all looked like they were happy to be in their own skin, using makeup only to accentuate the goods that they've all already got. Mandy Moore, Jaime King and Eva Amurri were among the guests on Wednesday night at the launch of Clos du Bois Rouge in LA. The ladies stepped out to celebrate the label's new red wine at a Moulin Rouge-themed party at Bar Marmont, just down the street from the famed Chateau Marmont. Mandy, who wore Lela Rose, was overheard chatting about collaborating with husband Ryan Adams on her upcoming album. Her last studio album was 2009's Amanda Leigh. In the years since, she's done some acting on the big screen instead, voicing the animated movie Tangled in 2010 and starring opposite Kellan Lutz in last year's Love, Wedding, Marriage. Mandy stopped to chat with Eva as well as Jaime, who made the rounds in a look from Jason Wu. During the party, Jaime told us that her Hart of Dixie character's Southern style has influenced her own.

The celebs that flocked to the statement jeweller's and pattern pro's tea party in Beverly Hills over the weekend were a lesson in pulling off brilliant colour and all-over print, not to mention equally eye-catching baubles. Note: the kind of lesson that lends itself perfectly to styling chic cocktail wear.
