George Clooney was joined by Matt Damon and producer pal Grant Heslov at Lake Como in Italy over the weekend. George and Grant were spotted riding motorcycles in Como, Italy, on Sunday together, and they later met up with Matt to catch a private plane out of Lugano Airport in nearby Lugano, Switzerland. The trip to Lake Como may have been a belated birthday celebration for George, who turned 52 last Monday but spent the day working on his new film, The Monuments Men, in Germany with Matt and Grant. He has another big film to look forward to as the trailer for Gravity, his upcoming project with Sandra Bullock, was released last week.

George Clooney and an in-costume Matt Damon shared a laugh together on the set of The Monuments Men in Bad Grund, Germany, today. George has a good reason to be in a happy mood, as today marks his 52nd birthday. He didn't take any time off from work for his special day, and instead milled around the set with Matt and friend Grant Heslov in between shooting scenes. Yesterday, Matt and George shared a beer with friends outside their hotel in Ilsenburg. Matt is back to work on the World War II flick after taking a short break in mid-April to renew his vows to wife Luciana Damon, accept an award from Harvard, and promote his upcoming summer film, Elysium, in Mexico.

Both Matt and George have been working a lot over the past few months. The two may celebrate the completion of their latest project with a getaway to George's famous Lake Como estate in Italy — check out Matt, Brad Pitt, and more celebrities at George Clooney's house in Lake Como.

Matt Damon Returns to His Alma Mater For a Special Award

Matt Damon dropped Harvard University yesterday to receive a special award.

Matt Damon dropped Harvard University yesterday to receive a special award. Although Matt never graduated from Harvard, dropping out in 1992 to pursue his acting career, the Hollywood star received Harvard's 2013 Harvard Arts Medal. He arrived at the ceremony with his wife, Luciana Damon, and got interviewed by John Lithgow onstage during the ceremony. During the chat, Matt talked about his experiences at the college and growing up in Boston. He said, "I am really proud to come from here. Hold onto that, and that feeling of what we are really about here." Matt also revealed that he still struggles with his failures, but turns to his wife for support. Matt's scholarly career recognition coincides with yesterday's announcement that his best friend, Ben Affleck, will receive an honorary degree from Brown University on May 26.

Matt and Ben teamed up earlier this month when they jetted off to St. Lucia for Matt and Lucia's vow renewal. While Ben has since been taking advantage of time with his family, Matt has returned to work. On Saturday, he promoted his new movie, Elysium, in Cancun and also participated in a Skype press conference with George Clooney and Grant Heslov for The Monuments Men, which is set to be released in December.
