It's hard to do an icon like Marilyn Monroe justice but that doesn't stop a bevy of celebrities trying. The American beauty would have turned 87 over the weekend. So in honour, we've picked 12 of the most interesting takes on her look over the years. Michelle Williams' homage in My Week With Marilyn is refreshingly different from the glitzy, camp portrayals of the blonde bombshell that we're used to seeing, but do you prefer Scarlett's, Rihanna's or Madonna's take on her iconic look?

Inside the Met Gala After Party!
The fun wasn't over for the Met Gala 2013 attendees in NYC last night as they flocked to the Standard Hotel following the ball for the official after party at the Boom Boom Room. Madonna stripped out of her bum-baring Met Gala outfit and changed into a fishnet body stocking and black lacy lingerie to mingle with guests like Katy Perry, Allison Williams and Frank Ocean. She wasn't the only star who made a costume change — Amanda Seyfried took off her gown and changed into a baggy black t-shirt to hit the dance floor with Frank. Meanwhile, Miranda Kerr met up with January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence arrived with Marion Cotillard, Gerard Butler mingled with Karolina Kurkova, andNicole Richie connected with Kirsten Dunst, and Mary-Kate Olsen snuggled with boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy. Mary-Kate and Olivier weren't the only couple at the late-night bash, as Jennifer Morrison was spotted holding hands with her Once Upon a Time co-star Sebastian Stan and Kate Bosworth hugged Michael Polish. If you missed out on all the excitement yesterday, be sure to check out our collection of all the red carpet fashion from the 2013 Met Gala to get caught up!
Gwyneth, SJP, and Kate Hudson Sparkle at Star-Studded Tiffany & Co. Ball
Gwyneth Paltrow took a break from her promotional duties for Iron Man 3 to party with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson, and many more A-listers at Tiffany & Co.'s Blue Book Ball in NYC last night. She wore a blue Ralph Lauren gown as she mingled on the carpet and inside the party with a Reem Acra-wearing Kate; SJP, who wore a vintage Vicky Tiel gold frock; and Jessica Biel in a navy Elie Saab number. Meanwhile, Carey Mulligan wore a Victoria Beckham black suit at the bash, which featured jewels that were designed for her new film, The Great Gatsby, and chatted with an elegantly dressed Michelle Williams, who donned a dress by Katie Ermilio. Naturally, all of the ladies wore jewels by Tiffany & Co.
Gwyneth had to miss out on the London premiere for her new flick, which took place yesterday after getting rescheduled due to Margaret Thatcher's funeral earlier this week. However, she did fit in press duties while in the UK, including making an appearance on The Graham Norton Show and getting cute at a photocall with her co-star Robert Downey Jr.
Your Invitation to Tiffany & Co.'s Blue Book Ball Awaits
Tiffany & Co. invited their Blue Book Ball guests to step inside one of their iconic little (well, not so little) blue box at Rockerfeller Centre in New York City today. The reason? To inspect the brand's Art-Deco inspired Jazz Age collection, which nicely coincides with the release of Baz Luhrman's The Great Gatsby film — for which Tiffany & Co. designed and provided the jewellery. The A-list attendees adhered to the black tie dress code, with floor-length gowns de riguer. Birthday girl Kate Hudson looked fresh in a pale blue Reem Acra Resort '13 number, Jessica Biel was elegant in Elie Saab A/W '13, Sarah Jessica Parker wowed in a vintage Vicki Tiel gold gown and a Yeojin Bae black blazer and Gwyneth Paltrow may have stolen the show in a languid Ralph Lauren Pre-Fall '13 satin sheath. Step inside to see all the glamorous arrivals . . .

Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba flaunted their fabulous figures while on a girls' trip to St. Barts, and Charlize Theron and Seth MacFarlane set tongues wagging when they left a restaurant together. That's not even the half of it! Click through to see what else your favourite stars got up to this week.
Love It or Leave It? Michelle Williams's Punk Pixie
We've seen the sleek and sophisticated version of Michelle Williams's grown-out pixie cut, but the actress went for an edgier look at the Kate Young For Target party yesterday. Michelle showed off her new length with piecey bangs that created a look reminiscent of '90s punk. We've got plenty of tips if you're growing out your own crop, but what do you think of her asymmetric style?
