What a fantastic week it's been in la-la land! Between the Melbourne Cup, Barack Obama being re-elected as the President of the United States, the amazing annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, premieres and more, we were kept super busy as we tried to stay up-to-date with celeb happenings around the world. Aussie models Jess Hart and Miranda Kerr did us proud on the VS catwalk, while Jennifer Hawkins and Rose Byrne kept company with Mischa Barton at the race that stops the nation. On Wednesday, we were all waiting with bated breath to find out who would win the much-publicised American election, and we oohed and aahed over Reese Witherspoon's son Tennessee's first pics. That's not even the half of it — there's much more to catch up on this week, so get clicking through the gallery!
Where to start this week? We had Melbourne Cup day kicking things off early in the week, where we saw all our favourite Aussie stars (plus a couple of international ones!) looking gorgeous as ever for the race that stops the nation. The next day, we were delivered the annual perve-fest that is the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and perve we did — on Miranda's makeup, that is! Then were was the beautifully-structured hairdo Marion Cotillard showed off, the divine burgundy lip rocked by a rebelious actress and enough shimmer and sparkle to shake up your entire beauty routine. The celebrity set are back at Flemington Racecourse for Crown Oaks Day today, after launching the event at a fancy lunch yesterday. Myer ambassador Jennifer Hawkins looked divine in a floral headpiece by Flowers by Fleur, while fellow Myer ambassador Rebecca Judd wore Melissa Jackson millinery. Both celebrity stunners wore their hair in loose, beachy waves, and kept their nails relatively neutral — a huge trend for Spring. Delta Goodrem and Mischa Barton both went for bold lip looks at yesterday's luncheon, Delta for one proving the vampy lip need not be saved for Winter. The race celebrations continued today with the Melbourne Cup Carnival’s VRC Oaks Club Luncheon held at the Palladium at Crown. Visiting actress Mischa Barton, who divided fashion critics with her burgundy Ellery ensemble yesterday, chose a black and white dress for today’s lunch event, and expressed her gratitude at being a guest on Twitter, writing, “Had a great time at #melbcupcarnival thanks to the VRC for having me.” Kate Waterhouse was the latest star to join the floral garland brigade with a pretty headpiece that matched her dark red frock, while other guests included Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Simone Callahan, Sally Pearson and Delta Goodrem, who performed for the crowd. Tomorrow is Crown Oaks Day and stars will be returning to Flemington Racecourse, with added international celebrities such as Kim Cattrall and Mena Suvari.

There's no denying that the Melbourne Cup is one of the most hotly anticipated events on the social calendar, and with thanks to international guests such as Mischa Barton, Ashley Madekwe and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, today's celebrations look to be bigger and better than ever. Judging from years gone by, we can expect to see a lot of colour amongst the VIP guests, but thanks to social media we don't have to wait too long before the fashions on the field pics trickle in. So far we've spied Rebecca Judd sporting a Kerrie Stanley head-piece, Mischa Barton in bordeux Ellery and Kate Waterhouse looking lovely in lilac Gucci. Mischa Barton added an international flavour today's Melbourne Cup celebrations, attending as a guest of Emirates for their Irish-themed soirée. The O.C.-alumn choose a dramatically draped bordeaux dress from Ellery's A/W '13 collection for the occasion, topping off her luxe look with a vertically-twisted Phillip Treacy headpiece, Louis Vuitton and Cartier jewellery, a Louis Vuitton gold clutch and rust-hued heels. It sure is a head-turner! Thoughts?

Ashley Madekwe chose a white and spearmint Camilla and Marc dress for her Melbourne Cup debut. The visiting Revenge actress, who is a special guest of Channel Seven, linked up with Mischa Barton at the Emirates marquee, and it was a reunion for the two TV stars as they both starred in the short-lived series The Beautiful Life. Coincidentally Ashley’s character on TBL was called Marissa, the same as Mischa’s onscreen ego on The OC. Fashion-obsessed Ashley also has a style blog, Ring My Bell, and shot some photos for a post during her time in Australia. Weigh in on all the Melbourne Cup style on our fashion and beauty polls.
