My Kitchen Rules 2013: Ashlee and Sophia vs. Angela & Melina

It was gatecrashers versus gatecrashers on last night’s episode of My Kitchen Rules, when Melbourne ‘Real Housewives’ Angela and Melina locked horns with NSW best friends Ashlee and Sophia. While waiting for the main course to arrive from Ali and Samuel’s second instant restaurant attempt in Tasmania, Angela filled an awkward silence by saying to the girls, “You’re like just being rude. Can you explain to me what that’s about?” It kicked off a war of words between the four women, which the other contestants said was like a “ticking time bomb.”

Melina: “Don’t put your head on the table and roll your eyes like you’re like, ‘Whatever.’ Your body language is . . .”
Sophia: “That’s being — that’s being tired.”
Angela: “I think if you went around the table and asked everyone’s experience of how it was to meet you, most people would say they’ve found you to be cold and rude.”
Sophia: “That’s your perception. That’s the way you’ve decided to perceive things.”
Angela: “You’ve got, like, personality disorder, or something. Or lack of manners.”
Sophia: “Oh my God. I am not doing anything. That is what you think I’m doing. It’s not the actual case. You will just believe what you want to believe. If you think I’m a b*tch or whatever, that’s it, fine! Leave it at that.”

Later, in her post-dinner piece to camera, Sophia said, “Angela is basically accusing us of being rude, and calling us shady people. I think she’s just confused in general.”

The heightened drama in the episode comes days after reports that Sophia is an actress. (Channel Seven has denied these claims.) But in an interview with Who, the Melbourne housewives were adamant that Ashlee and Sophia weren’t playing things up, with Melina telling the magazine, “When they walked into our instant restaurant I knew they were just bad to the core — and my intuition never lies.” Angela added, “I was like, ‘These chicks can’t be for real.’ But they’re real. It was so awkward.”

My Kitchen Rules airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel Seven.
