Want to see if Naomi Watts can pull off playing Princess Diana? The Oscar-nominated actress takes on the royal role in the upcoming biopic Diana, and the first teaser shows a hint of footage, but no dialogue yet. The movie is set to follow her from 1995 to her tragic death in 1997. It will focus on her relationship with Dr. Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews) after her divorce from Charles, her humanitarian works, and her campaign against landmines.
It's interesting to see Watts as Diana, not just because of their physical resemblance, but because I really think she's going to be able to pull off Diana's presence. Hopefully we'll hear Watts speak in the next trailer, plus a bit more about the story, but for now I'll settle for watching this on repeat. The movie doesn't yet have a release date yet, but be sure to catch the teaser after the jump.
Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts and Anna Kendrick teamed up at Coach's Summer Party on the High Line in NYC yesterday. The three women were joined by Nashville star Connie Britton, Revenge's Joshua Bowman and model Chrissy Teigen as they mingled with New Yorkers at the park. Katie is currently filming her new project, Mania Days, in the city and she caused quite a stir on set a few weeks ago when she was spotted filming love scenes with co-star Luke Kirby out in public. Meanwhile, Naomi has been playing social butterfly in the Big Apple while her long-time love, Liev Schreiber, finishes up filming for his new project, Ray Donovan, in LA. Naomi hit up Stella McCartney's Resort 2014 presentation with friends Cameron Diaz and Kate Bosworth on Monday and joined forces with Sienna Miller at a charity event last week. She has big news to share today as the new trailer for Diana, her film about the life of Princess Diana, was released online.
Last night, Coach took over NYC's High Line for its annual Summer carnival shindig— complete with a dunk tank, jugglers, and a fortune-teller, not to mention a whole slew of celebrities in warm-weather outfits perfect for inspiring whatever you've got on your own datebook this weekend. Katie Holmes picked a pure white, Chloé one-shoulder dress, while Naomi Watts continued the casual look in a pale pink See by Chloé shirtdress and Irene Neuwirth jewels. Connie Britton kept it equally breezy in a blue skinny-strapped style. It was Anna Kendrick who went a different route, opting for a rocker look by pairing skinny jeans with a printed blouse and leather vest. Which outfit do you plan on copying?
This week's best dressed list was owned by Australian ladies. Nicole Kidman was the epitome of an iconic movie star, wowing the crowds at Cannes with her blue, red, black and white L'Wren Scott dress — that she went with the designer is no surprise, but her dress was a bold choice that really paid off. Also rocking the prints was Nicole's good friend Naomi Watts, in a floral Dolce & Gabbana tea-length dress, while Jess Hart and Megan Gale opted for black dresses with pretty details making all the difference. Click through to see these looks and more — including Miley Cyrus' fab Balmain jumpsuit and Cara Delevingne's cosy-enough-to-sleep-in suit. Come along!
The Swiss watch brand IWC Schaffhausen gathered stars in France for the Cannes Film Festival in the town of Antibes last night for its For the Love of Cinema party. The location was the luxurious seaside Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, which made for a picturesque night. Rooney Mara, Naomi Watts and Karolína Kurková were among the famous women who hit the red carpet wearing timepieces from the brand, as did actor Christoph Waltz and race car driver Lewis Hamilton. The group was treated to a performance by Jamiroquai's Jay Kay and dinner inside the hotel's restaurant.
Wearing a long-sleeved leather Balmain dress, Karolína discussed her bold choice and said, "It's not short!" She also revealed that her travels to Cannes were partially for work and partially for a family holiday with her husband, Archie Drury, and their son, Tobin. Naomi, meanwhile, wore a chic floral gown from Dolce & Gabbana. She told us on the red carpet that when in the South of France, she dresses the part. Though her day-to-day choices aren't fancy, she ups the fashion ante even more than usual for premieres and events at the festival's iconic Palais.
The Tribeca Film Festival is well under way in New York, and it's been a prime time for spotting the crème de la crème of Hollywood. The Tribeca Film Festival continues its stylish reign in New York City, thanks to the latest batch of red carpet screenings and cocktail parties. The annual Vanity Fair-hosted kickoff party set the bar high last week, but this week's latest premieres and movie screenings certainly added to the list of enviable outfits spotted on the fest circuit. On the heels of Naomi Watts's bold Alexander McQueen sheath at the weekend's premiere of Sunlight Jr., Kate Hudson continued the red carpet glamour in a body-conscious Jenny Packham sheath at yesterday's premiere of The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
