Nicole Kidman, Liam Hemsworth, Joel Edgerton, Meryl Streep Pictures at 2012 AACTA International Awards

Some of Australia’s brightest and most talented actors honoured Hollywood stars at the first annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) International Awards on Friday night. AACTA president and 2012 Australian of the Year Geoffrey Rush hosted the night at Soho House in West Hollywood, while Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe were among the presenters. Meryl Streep was on hand to pick up the AACTA International Award for best actress for The Iron Lady, while The Artist’s director, Michel Hazanavicius, and stars Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo were present for their film’s big wins — you can find all the winners here. Many of our expats walked the red carpet, including Joel Edgerton, Liam Hemsworth, Phoebe Tonkin and Jessica McNamee. On Tuesday night local stars will gather and be honoured when the AACTA Awards are held at the Sydney Opera House.
