There was a lot to keep up with in celebrity land this week! Things were kicked off by Joel Madden and Reece Mastin, who joined rock-star forces at the Madden Housewarming Party in Sydney's Point Piper on May 12. Joining her husband Joel in Sydney later in the week was Nicole Richie and their kids Harlow and Sparrow — they were spotted doing a sweet early morning coffee run at Sydney's The Star on Thursday. Over in Miami, Miranda Kerr got down to a sexy black one-piece as she worked her magic for the camera; meanwhile Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio stole a moment away from the crowds at Cannes as they premiered their epic new film, The Great Gatsby. It's time for our weekly installment of the best, funniest, weirdest celebrity tweets. . . and this week we were spoiled for choice! Whether it was Anna Kendrick lamenting her spelling errors, Megan Gale standing up for one of her fellow Australians, Jimmy Fallon sending rather random thank-you notes, or Delta Goodrem avoiding social media for one very good reason, we were entertained and sometimes bewildered (thanks, Samuel L. Jackson) by these 140-character messages from some of our favourite celebs . . .
Nicole Richie was dressed in black for a low-key coffee run in Sydney with her kids yesterday. While she tried to keep a low profile in a beanie and sunnies, her daughter Harlow looked adorable in a matching pink print ensemble, while her son Sparrow showed off his punk-inspired half-shaved hair. They stayed close to their mum as she put in their hot chocolate orders and even tried to peer over the counter at the cafe.
Nicole’s husband Joel Madden kept busy last night as The Voice celebrated the start of next week’s live shows with a jam session at The Beresford Hotel. Each of the coaches’ teams took to the stage for some fun performances, with some of the coaches, such as Seal and Ricky Martin, joining in for some songs.
Nicole Richie touched down in Sydney this week with her two young children, Harlow and Sparrow. She’s expected to be based here for a couple of months while her husband, Joel Madden, continues working on The Voice as the popular singing show moves into the live show phase of the competition. The family dined at Catalina in Rose Bay on Tuesday and Nicole shared some of the beautiful harbour views she’s come across on social media.
Even though Joel is the one getting a lot of screen time in Australia, Nicole has also been in front of the camera for her new AOL series Candidly Nicole, which is short video focusing on a different subject each week based on Nicole’s candid sense of humour on Twitter. The series is three episodes in so far and has covered topics such as tattoo removal, flower arrangements and what a girl should wear on a first date. It also celebrated over a million views on the first video, proving fans still love seeing Nicole on screen.

Our favourite famous famous gave us many talking points this week. Top of the list? Cara Delevingne, who locked lips with another beautiful English It Girl and made sure to share the resulting pics on Instagram. Also making us sit up and pay attention? The hair and makeup at the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is consistently some of the best of the year. And with a theme centering around the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit, high drama was a must-have look. But surprisingly, the best looks of the evening ran the gamut of sophisticated rebel to all-out rocker. Sarah Jessica Parker wowed the red carpet congregation with an over-the-top Trojan headpiece that was nestled among a twisting collection of fishtail braids. Nicole Richie was also a surprising arrival, sporting a wispy, gray beehive that was part powdered wig and part punk. Speaking of wigs, Madonna opted for a Bettie Page-inspired hairpiece, complete with short, blunt bangs.
Moving on to the blondes of the ball, Sienna Miller went all-out grunge with a seriously textured hairstyle embellished with a studded hairpiece, inky black liner, and a nude lipstick. And in one of the more jaw-dropping moments of the evening, Anne Hathaway stunned with a peroxide blonde bouffant, accented with lavender shadow and loads of liner. Whether they were giving punk a sophisticated spin or going completely chaotic, these five ladies stole the show in their own right. But who was your pick for the best punk beauty look of the Met Gala? Vote on all of our Met Gala polls here!
Nicole Richie did punk right with a shocking grey bouffant at this year's Met Gala. The designer had teased an Instagram snap of some hair dye earlier in the day, but her high-volume hair was completely unexpected. Celebrity stylist Luke Chamberlain actually blew her hair dry and texturized it before coloring. Taking small sections, Chamberlain applied hair paint with a tint brush before twisting large sections into the bouffant shape. Pins and strong-hold hair spray kept Nicole's hair in place. A cat-eye and dark purple lipstick pulled the look together.

Nicole Richie might have opted for a more subdued ensemble today, wearing a beaded Topshop dress and Vero Cuoio pumps, but she made up for it with a super punked-out grey updo and subversive jewels. Gold cuff earrings injected a tough touch to her look, while additional vintage silver jewels by Maria Francesca Pepe and a gold House of Harlow 1960 clutch supplied a more ladylike vibe. Do you love it?
