Aussie Actors Dominate The CW Upfronts in NYC

Last night The CW network held its upfront presentation in NYC. In addition to its popular stable of stars, such as The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder — together on the same stage after their reported split — and the casts of The Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie and more shows, the event welcomed a group of Australian actors, including some newcomers to The CW family. Phoebe Tonkin and Claire Holt will star in The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals, Adelaide Kane takes centre stage as Mary, Queen of Scots in Reign, Luke Mitchell was there to support his new show The Tomorrow People, and Jay Ryan celebrated the second season of his show Beauty and the Beast, which premieres on Eleven on April 27.

Phoebe, Claire, Adelaide, Luke and Jay aren’t the only Aussies making waves on US primetime. Rebel Wilson and Sophie Lowe both have lead roles in new shows on the ABC network (watch the previews for their respective shows Super Fun Night and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland) while Lincoln Lewis, Bob Morley and Chris Egan are among the former Home and Away hotties making the jump to Hollywood.

Ian Somerhalder Tweets: "People Change and Forget to Tell Each Other"

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have reportedly ended their three-year relationship.

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have reportedly ended their three-year relationship. Us Weekly reports that Ian and Nina split, but that the two will "remain best friends" and continue to work together on The Vampire Diaries, where they first met. The couple first went public with their relationship back in 2011, and they would often attend events together. Nina was most recently spotted spending time with friend Julianne Hough, including taking a bikini trip to Miami. Julianne may be able to offer Nina some advice on handling her breakup as she announced her split from long-time boyfriend Ryan Seacrest back in March. The two were by each other's side on Tuesday when they attended the 2013 Met Gala together.

Ian may have have hinted about the breakup when he posted a quote on Twitter shortly before the news hit. He said this morning, "People change and forget to tell each other. -Lillian Hellman, playwright (1905-1984)." Looking forward, Nina will begin work on her new film, Let's Be Cops, in Winter, and pick up filming for the fifth season of The Vampire Diaries in Spring.

Nina Dobrev knows how to work a red carpet, and tonight's Met Gala was no exception. Her punked-out look meant forgoing the usual body-con gowns in favor of a custom black Monique Lhuillier jumpsuit-meets-dress. The corset bodice — complete with leather harness — gave way to a see-through gauzy skirt and patent black pumps. The Vampire Diaries starlet edged up the look further with Kimberly McDonald jewels and a slightly tougher hairstyle. How did she do?

Nina Dobrev donned a Monique Lhuillier gown to hit the red carpet as a guest of the designer at today's Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Nina also walked the carpet at last year's event, though she had a different date in boyfriend Ian Somerhalder for the 2012 occasion. She's been making waves in the fashion world, so it's no surprise that Nina is joining in the festivities to celebrate the opening of the museum's new exhibit, Punk: Chaos to Couture. Nina's gown played on the theme with its leather harness and corset details.

Nina will be in good company as her close friend Julianne Hough will also be in attendance for the fashionable fun representing Topshop tonight. Julianne and Nina are fresh off a beach getaway to Miami, where they lounged in bikinis together two weeks ago. What do you think of their gowns? It seemed only appropriate that we ask The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev her secret to healthy skin — and looking totally refreshed — at an early-morning event for a new Origins beauty product. The brunette starlet just finished filming the fourth season of her hit TV series, and made a quick pit stop in NYC before officially embarking on a holiday. Read on for what she revealed about her skin care routine, the weirdest beauty treatment she's tried (recently), and what she can't leave the house without.

1. On her skincare routine: Nina spends much of her days on the Vampire Diaries set in full hair and makeup, so it makes sense that she takes her skincare routine very seriously. "Even when it looks like I'm not wearing much makeup, I totally am. So, as soon as I'm done on set — I don't even wait until I get home — I'll use a makeup wipe, wash my face, and then use a hot towel. I use it to let my skin breathe, let the pores open up, and then I put tonnes of moisturiser on."

2. On her mum's beauty advice: Mother knows best, right? "My mum told me once that if you put an egg in your hair, it will make it super shiny." In fact, Nina's mum is onto something — our favourite DIY hair recipe masks serve as further proof.
