Gisele Bundchen is back from her modeling hiatus with a big appearance on the upcoming April cover of US Vogue. The accompanying photo shoot also features the supermodel posing in her bikini, but the most exciting part is that she brought adorable baby Benjamin along! Gisele opened up to the magazine about how she stayed in shape during her pregnancy, her new skincare line and discussed what it's like working again as a new mum. She said:
- On naming their son Benjamin Rein: “I wanted him to be called River because I wanted something always flowing, immortal. My husband said, ‘There’s no way we’re going to call him River.’ But my father’s name is Reinoldo, so it’s a homage to him. And it’s like water.”
- On staying in shape while pregnant: "I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds. I think it's muscle memory."
- On keeping out of the public eye: "I felt like my pregnancy was a sacred moment for me. I stayed in Boston and I didn’t work apart from the contracts I have and then I only let them use my face."
- On her first time modeling post-birth: "I got to the studio and I felt like I was E.T.—whoa, what’s going on? Hair and makeup? I hadn’t looked at myself in a mirror for a month and a half… Usually, as I walk through the door into that atmosphere, I already feel different. There’s a button that goes On and I’m On. And when I go On, there is almost no me; there is just a character who is doing all this. This time it wasn’t like that… For the first time, I think I actually saw me—the inside—instead of the persona."
Love the "horse pic"
She looks great!
1I never liked her before I read this. And now I'm convinced I'd slap thee hell outta her if I had to listen more than 3 1/2 mins. 2 if she flipped that damn hair. "garbage disposal' she happens to be on the 'male-physique' female genetic pool. Naturally she'd go back to looking like a fug man with a weave.
2They're all 'horse pics' if she's in them. LOL
3Oh sure try to censor her comments to make it look like people actually give a damn about her. Nope. LOL
4Tres belle tres belle tres belle...
5If she did all that she could to keep her figure and body shape and her pregancy was so "sacred", then why did she stay in hiding and only let magazines, etc. only capture her face? Obviously she has a problem with her body and pregnancy.
I also don't think she comes across very likeable. Most pregnant women wouldn't appreciate being called "garbage disposals" while pregnant. It's really a disappointment that such a public figure is so self-centered with no words of encouragement or support to be given to mothers everywhere.
6Lol. how much jealous woman :]
7wow. she came back to her shape fast.
8She looks fab!
9Wow, she looks amazing!
10That's not 'jealousy' it's pissed off. She sounds like a pampered-azz, rich b*tch who forgot the volleyball court her ugly azz came from.
11Wow some of these comments are very harsh and just plain mean! Horse-face? Right, Gisele might not be to your personal taste but I think she is quite striking and beautiful. If you have nothing nice to say then why say it at all? I don't comment on posts very often but if I do, I say something positive. If I dislike a celebrity then I simply don't read or comment about them.
12I agree with her though about trying to stay healthy during pregnancy. There is that conventional idea that once a woman gets pregnant, she should lay back, stay as sedentary as possible, and become an eating machine. What she says about being mindful makes logical sense to me, though I'm sure that her genetics had some part in it.
I don't pay a lot of attention to her as a model, but she seems grounded and positive.
13Irishheart... isn't it nice to have the right to say what you want and in your case it's 'always' nice. Well, that freedom goes both ways. If you don't like to read opposing views then comment without reading them. It's easier to shelter your view than censor others right to voice their opinion.
14Ok. It's not jealous. I believe.
15She's an idiot to say that most women do nothing but sit back and eat while pregnant. In this day and age most women have a frickin' job and the only ones sitting are the ones behind a desk. Something this 'say cheese' girl doesn't know one frickin' thing about. She just needs to thank some freak star she got lucky and shut up.
16I'm impressed with her body. Great job Gi
17Am I the only one who thinks 30lbs is a lot of weight to gain during pregnancy? Probably more than the average? I'm not bashing, I honestly don't know pregnancy stats.
Anyway, I do agree that a lot (not all) of very normal and healthy women tend to treat pregnancy like a disability or use it as an excuse to do very little and eat a lot of crap. Sorry, but Gisele was not totally off on that statement.
18while she can't say all women who gain a lot of weight treat themselves like "garbage disposals", there are things we can do to maintain healthy weight gain vs 50-100 pounds during pregnancy...I am not a mom so I will not speak further on that...anywayz, she's a model, they all look good after having kids, they're paid to look good (look" being the key word, they're mostly coke head and cigarette junkies)
1930-35lbs is healthy range, I think. So she has a point. People who gain 50+ put themselves at risk for gestational diabetes, hypertension, etc.
But garbage disposal? That is a sort of snotty way of putting it..
20she's launching a new cosmetics line, Sejaa: http://www.sejaa.com/
21well if i had to choose which horse i'd want to look like, Giselle or My Little Pony Parker, i'll take giselle. woman is gorgeous.
22I gained 25 pounds each pregnancy(twice) and workout and I still feel overweight. Maybe it's just body type? My body changed big time after kids, tummy was never the same and I tend to put on pounds faster and in different places.
23I think she's absolutely stunningly gorgeous! Her face looks damn gorgeous to me on that cover! killer smile. she is stunning. her body WOW. she is amazing.
24wow she looks like she never had the baby!
25Her son debut is on vogue while other celebrity put their child picture on trash magazine/tabloid like OK and others who are the same source s that made up stories about them but even so they apears on the covers...
26who doesnt now that is classy...good to go Gisele always beautiful and so is Benjamin
I call major bull on 'not looking in a mirror for a month and a half' Come onnnnnnnn
27lumineuse, thanks for the link!
28She's just talking about 'not getting fat'. That is a far cry from 'mindful eating' while pregnant. I've had 3 and when I ate mindfully it was based on what my obstetrician told me to eat that was healthy for me as well as to nurture the baby. If you want a lesson on what to eat during pregnancy why would anyone listen to a model for god's sake? She's thin (the face is obviously photo-shopped) wonderful for her but if she ate not to gain weight...then I hope her kid got the nutrients he needs or she'll be heading a charity in about 5 years.
29ok, MartiniLush. I love the videos with her.
3035-40 Lbs is the avarage weight gain for a pregnant women.. Kudos to her for staying on track and not eating everything in sight. My sister was 110 pounds before she got pregnant she went all the way to 210 pounds when she gave birth. Thats going over board.. now that ebing said. i think Gisele sounds like a self centered bitch..
31i don't think she would be of any significance without her looks. maybe it's because of the language barrier but she doesn't seem charming or classy to me. just my opinion.
