Our Instagram feeds were on opposite ends of the spectrum this week, with half of our favourite stars bracing themselves for the cold of the Norther Hemisphere Winter, and the other half soaking up the sun in Australia. Jesinta Campbell was one s star taking in the heat, sharing snaps of her incredible figure (not to mention some seriously cool Mikoh swimwear), and revealing some behind-the-scenes action on a beach shoot. On the other side of the globe, Lara stayed cosy in bed with her boyfriend Sam Worthington — the pair were in New Orleans — while Jessica Gomes rugged up in Paris and a bunch of Victoria's Secret models partied together in New York City. And Miranda Kerr? As usual, there were so many pictures of this local beauty — but we were particularly enamoured with the one in this gallery. Keen to see them all? Click through now!
We may be well into the swing of Summer, but there's one Winter trend that just won't quit — the sexy, dark, dangerous lip look. Dramatic description? It may well be, but a makeup craze this good deserves a bit of extra attention. There's something so mysterious and luxe about slicking dark red, purple or berry-hued colours across your lips — it's the easiest way to make like a modern femme fatale and knock the socks off anyone who stands in your way. As these celebrities beautifully exhibit, there are so many ways to interpret the trend. No matter your complexion and hair colour, there's a version in here that you can take and make your own this season. Because while we love a bright, light lip for long lunches in Summer, there's nothing quite like a vampy vibe to carry you through the balmy nights.
With two well-known people passing away this week, it's only natural that Twitter was awash with tribute tweets and words of reflection. Paul Walker's shock death had scores of celebrities tweeting their sorrow, but none were more heartfelt than those of his Fast & Furious co-stars. Nelson Mandela's passing yesterday was mourned around the globe, and Rihanna was just one high-profile star to mourn his death publically. It wasn't all doom and gloom, though — Joel Madden made sure of that! He and Jessica Biel both made us laugh out loud with their funny tweets, while many others like Anna Kendrick, John Legend and Ellen DeGerenes kept us entertained throughout the week. The American Music Awards provided some excellent beauty fodder for this week's most beautiful list — just look at Kelly Osbourne's hair! Rihanna looked toned and sexy with wet-look waves and large hair pins. Taylor Swift was channelling all things royal at her visit to Kensington Palace, while local beauties Laura Dundovic and Nikki Phillips rocked bronzed limbs and perfect hair at the Cleo Swimsuit Party. Click to see all 10 who made the list this week.
The 2013 American Music Awards took over the Nokia Theater in LA today, and there were plenty of must-see moments! Host Pitbull kicked off the night by giving audience members a lesson in booty-shaking dance moves with the help of a group of female dancers. Justin Timberlake took home the first award of the night for favourite pop/rock male artist, and he celebrated by running through the audience to dole out high-fives. He later grabbed two more honours. Meanwhile, Katy Perry channelled her inner geisha for a Japan-inspired performance of "Unconditionally" while the boys from One Direction got serious for their soulful new song "Story of My Life." Miley Cyrus confused some by singing "Wrecking Ball" accompanied by a digital cat, and Rihanna picked up a big honour, the icon award, from her mum. So much more went down, including Lady Gaga and R. Kelly's political performance and Taylor Swift's big artist of the year win — click through to see all the action!
Rihanna skipped the red carpet but stole the spotlight at the 2013 American Music Awards in LA today. The pop star nabbed herself a very big honour before the show even started: the icon award. Rihanna is the first artist to receive the newly created award, which honours an artist whose music has influenced the pop world on a global level. Bill Maher introduced Rihanna, saying, "She has become the voice of our time." After the Rihanna's stellar performance of "Diamonds," the star's mother presented her with the icon trophy, saying, "Tonight I applaud and admire for being so strong and so positive and so humble and so focused. It's amazing how you I'm so blessed to be part of this historic moment." Rihanna had another big moment earlier in the show when she won the award for favourite soul/R&B female artist, making it the third time she's won in the category.
It's no surprise we look to celebrities for beauty inspiration — after all, with globally-watched events on every other day, a slew of makeup artists and hairstylists at their beck and call and, usually, the looks to pull any style off, they're in perfect position to show off the latest trends. And when it comes to hair, there's no look our favourite stars won't try. There are the ladies who love long bobs (Charlize Theron and Lara Bingle, we mean you), the long-haired lasses (hello, Sofia Vergara and Olivia Palermo), the brave pixie crop fans (Jennifer Lawrence is the latest) and more — but don't take our word for it, see for yourself! Click through, and you'll find the latest and greatest Summer-ready looks, brought to you by the likes of Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss and other beauty icons. Get clicking!
Just when you thought you'd seen all the It hairstyles you could see for 2013, Rihanna, Jessica Paré, and Camilla Belle showed off a new trend. Short hair, loads of layers, and a set of heavy fringe are all aspects of this vaguely '70s crop. Rihanna was the most recent celebrity to adopt the style, and she showed off the cut first on her Instagram. Jessica channelled her inner Jane Birkin at an event last week, while Camilla spearheaded the trend almost two weeks ago. We're loving the disco-gal vibe of this hairstyle, and Summer is the perfect time to try a new hairstyle, but would you wear this trend yourself?
This week was always going to be a big one, with Spring Racing Carnival earmarked as one of the hottest events on the calendar — but we got a lot more than just horse races! At Derby Day on Saturday, Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster Blake stepped out for the first time since announcing their big news, while new couple Jesinta Campbell and Buddy Franklin were loved-up in the Emirates Marquee. The Melbourne Cup and Crown Oaks Day followed, where Buddy mingled with international model Kate Upton, but there was a lot going on in-between races too! From movie premieres with Liam and Chris Hemsworth to royal sightings and Rihanna living it up on the beach, there's heaps to see.
