Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker sure seem to be best buds lately, snuggling up to one another on the promotional trail for their new rom-com Did You Hear About The Morgans? But it sounds like the pair got chummy even before they started filming.

According to our sources, Hugh and SJP caught up for dinner before signing on for the film and hit it off immediately. During the meal, the dastardly duo even conspired to play a practical joke on director, Mark Lawrence, about his fears that the pair wouldn't get along. “We agreed that we would each write to Marc back in New York and say [dinner] was a disaster,” says Parker.

And being the superb actors they are, Mark fell for the gag hook, line and sinker.

“I got these emails from both of them saying how horribly Hugh had behaved,” says Lawrence. “So, of course, I’m horrified. I wrote a letter, apologising for the dinner, and only later I find out I’m the butt of the joke. At least, they considered it a joke.”

Aww Bless, isn't it nice to hear co-stars actually getting along.
