Country music stars descended upon Nashville for the CMA Awards at the Bridgestone Arena today. It was the second big event in a row for stars like Taylor Swift, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, who were all present at the BMI Country Awards yesterday. Taylor, who performed a solo acoustic version of her single “Ours” during the show, took home the top prize for Entertainer of the Year, and she shared her excitement with over 9 million Twitter followers. Other ladies who got glamorous for the CMA Awards red carpet include Ginnifer Goodwin, Faith Hill, Emily VanCamp and LeAnn Rimes, while Reese Witherspoon wore a strapless red dress to present an award.

Gwyneth Paltrow broke out her Winter white this afternoon to unveil her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in LA. Gwyneth didn't bring her kids, Apple and Moses, out for the event. Instead, the Country Strong star posed with costar Tim McGraw, pal Faith Hill, and a handful of other girlfriends. Gwyneth is out on the West Coast doing a press push for her new movie and spent the weekend at the junket with Tim, Leighton Meester, and Garrett Hedlund. Leighton managed to steal the headlines by announcing her intentions to leave Gossip Girl in 2012, but Gwyneth is renewing her commitment to the small screen. She just confirmed that she'll return to Glee in January but hopefully will avoid fueling any more drama with the Lohans.

Taylor Swift became the youngest winner ever of Songwriter of the Year at last night's BMI Awards in Nashville. Taylor looked great in her sexy black dress and got choked up on stage talking about a friend who recently passed away. She also took home Song of the Year for "You Belong With Me" making it quite the week for Taylor and that's before tonight's big Country Music Awards, where she's up for best Female Vocalist. Taylor just racked up even more nods with two People's Choice nominations, though she can't celebrate immediately with Jake Gyllenhaal who is off dodging questions about their relationship in London. Taylor will reportedly sing "Back to December" during this evening's show and Gwyneth Paltrow will perform her country single for the first time. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were also out yesterday after joining Gwyneth and Leighton Meester for Monday's Tennessee premiere of Country Strong. Keith Urban was also in attendance. The whole group will be back together in a few short hours to celebrate what's touted as the genre's biggest event.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Leighton Meester wore very different peekaboo dresses on the red carpet at the Country Strong world premiere in Nashville last night. The Gossip Girl star was fresh off her glamorous Vera Wang fragrance shoot. She and Gwyneth were joined by the rest of the cast, including Tim McGraw and his beautiful wife Faith Hill, before introducing the film to the crowd. Gwyneth shared a sweet moment with Gabe Sipos, their pint-sized costar behind children's cancer charity ChemoDuck.org. Gwyneth will be making her country performance debut at tomorrow night's CMA Awards and she'll be belting it out on an upcoming episode of Glee, taking on Cee-Lo's F*** You.

I hope you enjoyed that little musical teaser I shared with you a couple months ago of Gwyneth Paltrow singing "Country Strong", because now we get a peek at the movie of the same name. Seriously, the whole plot of country-based drama Country Strong seems to revolve completely around this song. Paltrow takes on the role of Kelly Canter, a guitar-strumming superstar who is better known for her trip to rehab rather than her country singing. Naturally, she finds obstacles on her way back to the top, including the fledgling performer who seems hungry to take her place (Leighton Meester). Her husband is played by actual country star Tim McGraw while cute up-and-comer Garrett Hedlund appears as a talented fellow singer-songwriter who may or may not interfere in Canter's marriage. I have faith in Paltrow as a versatile actress, but some parts of this trailer feel like she's in a Saturday Night Live skit about country singers. And I won't say I'm not looking forward to it, but I also can't ignore that it comes with a big serving of cheese. Watch the preview and get the twangy song stuck in your head when you read more.

Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance to lead the roster of stars who turned out in Tennessee Tuesday night for the Nashville Rising concert benefiting victims of the recent floods there. She stuck close to her The Blind Side costar Tim McGraw, who arrived with his wife Faith Hill. Taylor Swift wrapped up her bikini-filled getway to the Bahamas in order to attend, while Miley Cyrus covered up after her latest scantily-clad performance at Sunday's MuchMusic Awards. Carrie Underwood was also among the evening's performers, though Sandra was the one who stole the show. She took the stage with a guitar for a rendition of "Smoke on the Water," but after playing a few notes said, "I can't play for crap!" It was just the latest evening of celebrity philanthropy after Monday's telethon for the Gulf Coast, with Sandra and her friends raising more than $US2 million for their cause.
