HBO Toasts Its Big Winners With Michael Fassbender and More

The stars and friends of HBO gathered in a ballroom at the Beverly Hilton for a Golden Globes after party yesterday!

The stars and friends of HBO gathered in a ballroom at the Beverly Hilton for a Golden Globes after party yesterday! The network had a great deal to celebrate, especially Laura Dern's upset in the best actress in a comedy series category for Enlightened. She took home the statue over perennial favourites like 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler. Laura let loose at the bash with husband Ben Harper, apparently after reconciling despite announcing plans to divorce in 2010. Best supporting actor in a series Peter Dinklage, from Game of Thrones, was also raising a glass!

Best actor nominee Michael Fassbender stopped by HBO's event as well. The Shame star lost out to The Descendants' George Clooney, but Michael still got acknowledged in Clooney's speech — George made a somewhat off-colour reference to Michael's full frontal exposure in Shame! Michael didn't seem to mind the shout-out, and he made the rounds with best actor in a comedy nominee, and fellow Irishman, Brendan Gleeson from The Guard. True Blood hottie Joe Manganiello swung by, too, as did newlywed Eva Amurri Martino with Tim Robbins.

Last night's Emmy Awards show took place at LA's Nokia Theater, with Modern Family leading the pack by garnering five wins during the telecast alone! Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen received accolades for their individual performances, and they took their newly acquired gold into the press room. More stars who were honoured for their work answered questions from reporters, including Mildred Pierce's Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce, The Good Wife's Julianna Marguiles, and Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy. Series winners Mad Men and Modern Family had their whole casts up on the podium to chat about their wins. Actors from Mad Men admitted to missing new mum January Jones, who skipped the big night, since she just welcomed son Xander a few days ago. Show creator Matthew Weiner said, "She's home with her baby, John Slattery says. Her baby had his fingers crossed, she told me that. And she said it was really weird that we were going to be here without her, and we miss her terribly."

Modern Family, Mad Men and More Win Big at the Emmys

Jane Lynch kicked off today's Emmy Awards with a song and dance routine that included cameos from some of TV's most popular stars.

Jane Lynch kicked off today's Emmy Awards with a song and dance routine that included cameos from some of TV's most popular stars. Early supporting honours in a comedy went to small screen couple Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, who actually beat out three of his male co-stars! Ty then made a memorable acceptance speech about his late father. Charlie Sheen made a controversial appearance to present outstanding lead actor in a comedy series with some of his old competitors. While some were worried about what he'd say in relation to his departure from Two and a Half Men, Charlie was polite and respectful. He said, "From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together, and I know you will continue to make great television." Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory ended up the winner, while Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy won in the corresponding female category. Her rivals like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey all gathered together onstage before the victor was announced, and it was a sweet moment of support among peers.
