Through online systems like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, stars are campaigning and asking fans to make donations toward their personal creative projects via the Internet. Today, James Franco launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund three individual films based on his book Palo Alto, a series of short stories about his hometown.
He joins the ranks of other celebrities who have turned to such platforms, including Kristen Bell, who raked in a record-breaking $5.7 million for her Kickstarter campaign for the Veronica Mars movie, which she has already started filming. Zach Braff followed suit, crediting Kristen's success for his decision to utilise the site for his latest film project, Wish I Was Here.
