The Dubai International Film Festival held this year's Oxfam charity gala on Friday night with major Hollywood names like Rooney Mara, Freida Pinto, Kristin Davis, Colin Firth, and his lovely wife, Livia, all stepping out in their finest formal attire. Rooney stuck with her signature slicked-back locks and opted for a sheer and shimmery look from Calvin Klein. Freida chose a vintage red gown from Valentino, while Kristin kicked up her heels in vintage Dior. The celebration is a reunion of sorts for Colin and Rooney, two of last year's award season favorites. Rooney earned her first-ever nomination for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Colin took home the Academy Award for best actor for his role in The King's Speech. He'll likely return to the Oscars this year as it's traditional for the previous winners to take part in the show. We're less than a month away from the kickoff of award season, with both the SAG and Golden Globe nominees announced this week!
Naomi Watts stars in The Impossible, based on the true events that devastated one real-life family during the 2004 Thailand tsunami. We recently chatted with Naomi about the film, as well her Christmas plans and the upcoming award season. It seems 2013 is already shaping up to be exciting year for Naomi, who earlier this week earned a best actress SAG and Golden Globe nod for her work in the film. According to Naomi, it's all "very flattering," though she's still full of "angst" heading into award season.

It was a Spice Girls reunion last night at their Viva Forever!musical press event held at London's Piccadilly Theatre. Victoria Beckham was joined on the carpet by David, Romeo, Brookyn and Cruz (all in Burberry Tailoring), while Harper skipped out on the celebration. Victoria was reportedly running a bit late and missed out on the opportunity to pose with her fellow Spice Girls, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm. It's been a few months since we've seen the girl group back together after the fab five famously closed out the London Olympics with a medley of their biggest hits.

Hitchcock star Jessica Biel, dressed in a silk and tulle Dior design, strikes a high-fashion pose on the January 2013 cover of Elle. Inside the magazine, Jessica posed with designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaia, Maison Martin Margiela, Christian Louboutin, and Giambattista Valli, who famously created her pink wedding gown. It's been less than two months since Jessica and Justin Timberlake tied the knot in Italy, and she's already happily sharing thoughts on marriage as well as plans for the future. Here's more from Jess:
- Jessica on her honeymoon: "Honeymooning is the best thing about being a newlywed. I wish I could honeymoon forever."
- Jessica on marriage: "It means always having someone there to open the pickle jar . . . to share the ups and downs with, have adventures with. Someone to go swimming naked with. That kind of thing."
- Jessica on Justin's domestic sensibility: "He bakes pies. He's Southern, so he's got all this influence from his grandma. He does a three-layer pie . . . and blueberry crunch cake, which is pretty unbelievable. It doesn't happen all that often, thank God. Otherwise, it would be a big problem."
- Jessica on the future: "My goal now is to work with great directors. Small role, big role, medium-size role—it doesn't matter. I just want to work with someone who's going to push me to a scary, exciting place that I've never been before."
Sarah Jessica Parker stepped out in a shimmery cocktail dress from Vivienne Westwood in NYC last night. She was joined at the New 42nd Street Gala by Australian actress Naomi Watts and her partner Liev Schreiber. Liev and Naomi chatted with press before the event and were later spotted leaving with their sons, Sasha and Kai. It was fitting that Naomi was on hand for the celebration, as this year's event honoured the Australia Council For the Arts. Fellow Aussies Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman were the honorary chairs for last night's event, though Hugh missed out on the festivities as he's currently on the road promoting Les Misérables. Naomi's been hanging on the East Coast in recent days spending time with her boys, but she'll soon be packing up and heading to California where she's expected to attend an LA press day this weekend for her forthcoming release, The Impossible. Early Oscar buzz is already surrounding the film, which is based on the true story of a family caught in 2004's tragic tsunami.
Angelina Jolie visited Mafraq, Jordan yesterday as part of a UNHCR special envoy. The actress visited a refugee camp in the region in September, and again this month, to shine awareness back on the area during this time of civil unrest. Angelina takes her UNHCR responsibilities extremely seriously, and she could be planning to focus more on her philanthropic duties with rumours that she may give up her big-screen career. Angelina said she's considering retiring from acting, mainly to keep an eye on her kids as they approach their teens.
Pregnant Marisa Miller stripped down recently for a very special photo shoot. The former Victoria's Secret Angel embraced her growing curves and showed off her baby bump for Allure. In June, Marisa revealed she was expecting her first child with husband Griffin Guess, and since then she's been tweeting pregnancy updates. She spoke with the magazine about the changes her body's been going through over the past few months including her change in fitness routine, dealing with stretch marks, and the decision to pose nude. Here's more from Marisa's chat with Allure:
- Marisa on weight gain: "I had never even owned a scale before, but gaining weight is part of charting your progress. Yes, I was seeing numbers I'd never seen before, but I let go of that because I had a new goal and focus. It's an adjustment, but it helps having a lot of positive support."
- Marisa on posing nude while pregnant: "I always felt, even before I got pregnant, that it's better to accentuate your curves. A lot of women try to tuck their butt in or kind of slouch because they're trying to hide. Obviously, you can't suck it in, but it's important to really show off the belly. For some reason, for me, from the side, it looks the biggest, so that's what I tried to do."
- Marisa on stretch marks: "I'd been on Molly Sims's blog a lot — she was in her third trimester when I had just gotten pregnant—and she posted this recipe: shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and Vitamin E. I made it myself, boiling the ingredients, and I poured it into mason jars. I've loved the community of women who share their tips."
Julia Roberts met up with some of her famous friends for lunch at Hal's Bar and Grill in Venice, CA, on Friday. She was joined by her August: Osage County co-stars Ewan McGregor (and his wife, Eve Mavrakis), Dermot Mulroney, and Julianne Nicholson for a casual meal. Filming has reportedly wrapped on the production, but it appears the friends are intent on keeping in touch. Julia's next project pairs her with another fellow A-lister, Brad Pitt. Brad's production company, Plan B, is producing The Normal Heart, which is set to star Julia alongside Matt Bomer and Alec Baldwin.
As for Ewan, he's got an exciting few months ahead. His name has been thrown around recently as Oscar buzz is building around his gripping role in The Impossible. It appears Ewan's already got Angelina Jolie on his side, so it's possible he could get Julia's support as well. Dermot may not be in the hunt for an Academy Award, but he does have his sights set on Park City, Utah. Dermot's forthcoming project The Rambler is among the first-round films announced for 2013's official Sundance Film Festival lineup.
