Felicity Harley Tells Us How She Gets Ready for the Brownlow Medal

Felicity Harley Talks Brownlow Prep and WAG Beauty Blunders

As the wife of Tom Harley (the former captain of Geelong), Felicity Harley has been to her share of Brownlow Medals, the night of nights for AFL players and their partners. Ahead of tonight's Brownlow's, we spoke to the Women's Health editor — who will be co-hosting the Brownlow Blue Carpet Special on 7mate at 7.30pm — to talk pre-Brownlow prep and beauty blunders that she's witnessed over the years.

How far out do you start prepping for the event? I'd say two weeks: I had a haircut and colour a week ago to let the colour settle. Then on Saturday, I went for a collagen facial to give my skin a much-needed hydration boost. And, of course, a spray tan yesterday. Oh, and a manicure today. And pedi. So, yes a bit of primping.

Talk us through how you'll get ready today. Well, this year all my beauty stuff starts super-early as I have to be front and centre on the blue carpet at 5.15pm when everyone starts arriving. So, hair and makeup begins at 1.30pm! I'm predicting it will take about two hours.

Keep reading . . .Do you have a fail-safe beauty look that you stick with? I always like to have a healthy glow on the blue carpet, but I also like to hear what the makeup artists recommends in terms of red carpet trends. This year, I took a good look at the hair and makeup trends from the Emmy's: the eyes, lips and hair. Last year, I went for a bold lip because I had a gunmetal grey dress, but this year I'm wearing red so I'll probably tone down the lips a little.

What are the biggest beauty blunders that you've seen in the past? Too much makeup. And lipstick that doesn't match a dress.

What beauty advice would you give to women attending the Brownlow's for the first time? Less is best . . . but a smile and confidence is the best thing you can do!
