Balmain Fall 2010: perfectly made-up girls who looked like they were almost bare-faced. But don't under-estimate Tom Pecheux's handiwork. Creating the "no makeup" look can be tricky, but it needn't be time-consuming if you select the right products . . .
Brown mascara and shimmery nude shadow are your besties. The first enables you to put on several coats without looking like you're wearing anything and the second opens and brightens your eyes without any visible colour change. Nifty. Try Shiseido Perfect Mascara in Brown ($50) and Benefit Love Your Look Velvet Eye Shadow in Leggy ($34).
For even more eye brightening, water-line the inner corners and rims of your lower lids with a nude eye pencil. It'll make you look more alert. Try MAC Chromagraphic Pencil ($32) or a light layer of The Body Shop Metallic Eyeliner in Burnished Amber ($17.95).
Keep reading . . .Use a highlighter pen over your foundation to brighten under your eyes, play up your cheekbones, and clean up your brow bone area. Revlon ColorStay Brow Enhancer ($23.95) has a great highlighter on the other end or try the famous Benefit High Beam ($45).
Pick a light-coloured cream, gel, or mousse blush instead of a powder — you'll get plenty of pigment, but more sheer coverage. Plus, the shade will look more like a real flush than a blusher. Try Dior Pro-Cheeks Blush ($48), Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush ($18.75) or Clinique BlushWear Cream Stick ($43).
Pick a lipstick in a cream or semi-sheer formula that's pretty close to your natural lip hue. It will emphasise your lips and make them look fuller without looking done up. Try Guerlain Rouge G Brilliant Lipstick in Berry ($68), COVERGIRL TruShine Lipstick Nude Shine ($14.95) or The Body Shop Sheer Lip Shine in Pink ($23.95).
