Something magical happens when you put the words model and French together. The epitome of understated beauty, Constance Jablonski has that winning Victoria's Secret Angel combination of button nose, love-heart shaped face and bee-stung lips — so it's really no wonder Estée Lauder chose her as a face back in 2010. The iconic brand has just released one of their most exciting colour stories to date — Pure Color Vivid Shine, a collection inspired by models and the women of fashion — and to celebrate, Constance has given a rare interview on all things modelling, beauty and the album she's got on repeat right now. Read it all, after the break.
Will you celebrate Halloween? If so, what costume will you wear?
"Yes! I always celebrate Halloween; it’s one of my favourite parties of the year. Last year I was Poison Ivy... this time you will have to wait until October 31 to find out! I like to keep my costume as a surprise!"
What’s in your handbag?
"In my handbag I have my Estée Lauder compact, Re-Nutriv Hand Creme, phone, keys, iPod, some cuticle oil, and my must have that I can’t leave without is my Estée Lauder Lip Conditioner. My lips are always so dry I use it every day and I love the gold packaging. Super-chic!"
How do you prepare for fashion week?
"To prepare for fashion week, I try to save a lot of energy by having a good night’s sleep and exercise a lot to be in good shape and prepare my body for a long month of walking and running around."
What is the best style advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?
"The best advice I learned through my job with the different stylists I’ve worked with is to always be careful with the proportions of your silhouette. If choosing a dress with volume, make sure it's balanced. A bubble-skirted frock, for example, should have a slim top, while a pouf-sleeved piece should be narrower on the bottom."
Do you have any tips for taking a good photo?
"I think the most important thing to take a good picture is that your expression and your movements always express a feeling. No matter what the emotion, we have to feel it by looking at the camera."
What is the best makeup tip you received from Estée Lauder's creative makeup director, Tom Pecheux?
"I get so many tips from Tom — I am very lucky! Most recently he taught me to use two different colours of mascara, black for your top lashes and brown for your bottom ones. It gives you a sharper look with more definition and makes your eyes look even sexier!"
What is your favourite part of being an Estée Lauder spokesmodel?
"First of all, I’ve always been a huge fan of cosmetics, so you can imagine working with one of the most prestigious, luxurious and high-quality cosmetic brands in the world is such a privilege and an honour. I get to discover and try all the new creations and products before they are even out! On top of that Estée Lauder’s market covers the whole world, so we get to travel to the most beautiful, exotic and special places. It is so interesting and amazing!"
What are you listening to on your iPod?
"Right now, I can’t stop listening to the new album of Oh Land Sun of a Gun."
What is your new favourite restaurant and where is it?
"My new favourite restaurant is in Tribeca and it’s called Tiny’s, super tiny and super cosy!"
Did you have a nickname growing up?
"Yes, my dad used to call me 'Ten', a short version of Constance."
