It’s official: This beauty hack works to brainwash the men in your life. Wild, right? According to TikTok creator Michelle Diaz, an eyeliner trick has proved useful in keeping the attention of male counterparts. Diaz claims that the use of white eyeliner makes people maintain eye contact with her and others on TikTok have corroborated this.

To achieve the hypnotising look, Diaz draws small white dots on the top and bottom of her eye, as well as on the inner and outer corners. The TikTok creator makes sure to line up the dots so they look uniform on her eye. The whole process takes only a couple of minutes to perfect and the outcome is simple but captivating.

Diaz’s followers have tried the hack and found similar success, with one writing on TikTok, “I did this tonight and, I kid you not, every guy that came up to me couldn’t stop looking.” Others haven’t found it as effective, with TikTok user sopita4sophia writing, “Literally nothing happened whatsoever LOL”.

If you’d like to try this hypotonic trend, Diaz revealed that she uses a liquid NYX Professional Makeup liner for the dots. While the particular product Diaz uses isn’t available in Australia, the brand does have a similar one called Epic Wear Liquid Liner ($16.95) in the shade White.

There are heaps of other brands that also offer white liquid liner if you can’t get your hands on the NYX product. Sephora Collection’s Intense Ink Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($24) in Satin Pure White is a great option, as is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($31) in the shade Snow.

The beauty of this TikTok hack is that it’s easy to replicate and you don’t have much to lose. Does this eye makeup look actually hypnotise people, and men specifically? Look, probably not. But is it harmless fun that could potentially act as a conversation starter? Yes. TikTok trends come and go, with some more dangerous than others, and if this hack gets you playing around with makeup a little more, then we’re here for it.
