“Love Island”‘s Laura Whitmore is stirring up serious hair envy after appearing on last night’s show with hair full of gems. The sparkly accessories are having a major moment this summer, but Whitmore has proved that the glittering trend can be more than a bit of fun – hair gems can be sophisticated, too.
The TV host surprised the Islanders on 19 July by arriving, unannounced, at the beach club they’d been taken to for the day to reveal the public had been voting. But instead of fans waiting for the results, all eyes were on Whitmore who shimmered from head to toe. The 37-year-old showed off her take on the blingy Y2K trend on Instagram. Alongside some stunning photos and a video showing her hairstylist delicately placing the gems onto her blonde strands one-by-one, Whitmore wrote: “Bringing the sparkle to the party ✨🤍”.

The Blinger gem hair stamper went viral last month as fans couldn’t get enough of the crystal beauty trend, which has become a hit for festival season, so it was only a matter of time before celebrities like Whitmore jumped in on the action.
Whitmore’s glowing look didn’t stop at her immaculately straight hair, either. The star’s eyelids were coated in a sheer glittery eyeshadow and she sported a metallic manicure to match. Fluffy eyebrows, black lashes, and pink lips complemented the dramatic look. No stranger to sustainable fashion, Whitmore was dressed in a rented dress by ROTATE Birger Christensen and re-wore Sophia Webster wedges.

Makeup artist Tori Ball @toribmakeup shared more behind-the-scenes footage of how the look was put together. On her Instagram stories, the MUA added the “Euphoria” theme tune to her videos. This was presumably a subtle nod to Alexa Demie’s iconic gem looks on the HBO series.
