Believe It or Not, Rachel Brosnahan’s Natural Hair Colour Isn’ Brown – It’s Blonde

Rachel Brosnahan has a signature beauty look on her hit show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel that includes a red lip (thanks to the Ilia Color Block High Impact Lipstick ($28)) and short, deep brown hair. Though it looks like her natural hair colour, the actress told POPSUGAR that she wasn’t actually born a brunette.

“I’m naturally blonde,” Brosnahan said. “I started dyeing my hair really dark when I was 16, and then I waited almost 10 years before I went back to blonde.”

Brosnahan went back and forth between brown and blonde throughout the years – and even had red hair in 2015 – but admits that she has a colour preference: “Even though I’m a natural blonde – and normally I’m a huge advocate for being exactly who you are – but I really feel more myself with dark hair,” she said. “I always have. I don’t know why. I like them both, but when I look in the mirror with dark hair, I feel like I see myself, and when I look in the mirror with blonde hair, I see a fun but slightly different version of myself.”
