There was no shortage of Australian celebrities in Hollywood over the weekend with many of them attending the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala. It’s the signature event of Australia Week, which is an annual program designed to showcase Australian business capabilities in the US. The evening’s honourees were Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, tennis player Roy Emerson and Abbie Cornish. They were awarded in front of a whole who’s who of the Aussie Posse, which included Rove McManus (who was MC), Tasma Walton, Rachael Taylor, Ryan Kwanten, Teresa Palmer, Jessica Hart, Kris Smith, Simon Baker, Yvonne Strahovski, Anthony LaPaglia, Simon Baker and Olivia Newton-John. Honorary Aussie John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston were there in their first red carpet appearance since the birth of their son Benjamin. Upon receiving her award for Excellence in Film from her Sucker Punch director Zach Snyder, Abbie gave a tribute to Heath Ledger, accepting the award in his memory.
