Angelina Jolie broke from her Jolie-Pitt vacation in the Galapagos Islands over the weekend to tend to her humanitarian work with the UN. Fresh-faced Angelina headed to Barrancabermeja, Ecuador, on Sunday to meet with farmers in the region who are working with the UN on an agricultural program. The farmers have settled in Ecuador as part of a Colombian refugee relocation program, and the work in the fields has been supported by the UN to encourage self-sufficiency. Angelina was there with UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres, and the duo also met with Ecuador's Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño.
Angelina was promoted to the position of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Special Envoy last month after nearly 10 years working with the agency. She takes the role so seriously that she left Brad Pitt and their six kids to tackle the project. Brad and Angelina went to Central America with their kids to celebrate their decision to get married. After seven years together, Brad and Angelina finally decided to make this official. He presented her with a custom-designed diamond he created in conjunction with designer Robert Procop — check out our round-up of the best celebrity engagement rings. It seems, though, Angelina opted not to wear the huge stones while on this latest UN mission.
