Anne Hathaway touched down in Japan on Saturday with her husband, Adam Shulman. Fans in Tokyo greeted the actress and even gifted her with a stuffed My Little Pony toy as she arrived at the airport.
Anne is doing some press in Asia as she gears up for the Boxing Day release of Les Misérables. The first screenings of the film took place on the weekend to overwhelmingly positive reviews — we were at the Sydney screening — and Anne is expected to be a shoo-in come awards season for her role as Fantine in the Broadway adaptation. Anne was one of several critically acclaimed leading ladies featured on The Hollywood Reporter's Actress Roundtable cover this month. In the magazine, she talked about her special connection to the role — Anne's mother was actually an understudy for Fantine in the original Broadway production of the musical. It was another family member, however, that Anne said she resembled in the role. Anne joked that she looked like her gay brother after cropping her hair for the part at an NYC screening of the movie on Friday.
