Asher Keddie is front and centre on the July issue of Madison magazine, on sale now. The actress is the darling of Australian TV thanks to her roles in Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo, in which she portrayed Ita Buttrose to perfection, and Offspring, where she brings lovable obstetrician Nina Proudman to life every week. When she wasn’t lounging around in gorgeous neutral clothes for the shoot, Asher talked about her ideal day and the strangeness of celebrity. Here’s more from Asher from madisonmag.com.au:

  • On enjoying her TV success: “I feel a bit of distance now from that initial reaction to Offspring, and Paper Giants in particular. Now I can enjoy it a bit and take a breath. You know, it’s just the nicest feeling when you come out the other side of a project and you get that really lovely surprise: that people appreciate it.”
  • On her ideal day: “Rising early. I don’t sleep in. I’m wasting time if I sleep in. I like a really good, strong coffee and I would spend an hour outdoors with my horses. Doesn’t happen every day. Then my ideal day is filled with ideas and communication with people that inspire me. And I’m lucky — I am constantly surrounded by really inspiring, creative people who want to collaborate. So it doesn’t get much better than where I am at the moment.”
  • On talking about her personal life: “I completely understand the fascination with celebrities — I have it as well. But if I speak about my life in the country or my family and it’s out there, part of me doesn’t really want to go over old ground and speak about it again and again. Because then I feel like a broken record. There’s only so much you feel comfortable putting out there . . . To talk about it openly like everybody wants is challenging.”
