Source: Channel Nine What a triumph last night's finale of The Block was. Chantelle and Steve, the Geelong couple with next-to-no renovating experience, took out the winner's title at auction, selling their Melbourne apartment for a whopping $2.47 million. They may have lacked the experience of the others, but they made up for it in personality, perserverance and kindness — and when we spoke to the elated couple today, they couldn't have been happier. Keep reading for our chat with the couple, and proof that nice guys don't always finish last.
POPSUGAR Australia: Congratulations, you guys — has it sunk in yet?
Chantelle: Thank you, thank you so much. No, it hasn't. We're just absolutely buzzing!
PS: Are you tired? Have you slept?
Chantelle: Oh, we're so tired! So tired!
Steve: We're running on pure adrenaline at the moment.
PS: Were you guys expecting to win at all?
Steve: It was never discounted, we just thought we might be in with a chance and we were just hoping for a positive outcome. Getting a win — it's something you only dream about, really. We've been very lucky, very fortunate.
Chantelle: With all the open inspections and having people through, mostly if someone looked at ours they looked at all of them, and vice versa, and I think from that we could all say it was a really even playing field. No matter what the media or the experts were anticipating would happen, i think it was a pretty even playing field going into the auction.
