You’ve seen the ads while watching the Australian Open and My Kitchen Rules (and other Channel Seven programs): tonight the Bra Boys River Boys are coming to Summer Bay. Home and Away is welcoming — actually, judging from the promos it’s more like unwelcoming! — three new additions to the Bay: the Braxton brothers, also known as the River Boys. And don’t think for a second that they’re going to be baking muffins with Irene or going fishing with Alf. It’s trouble from the get-go and it seems the Summer Bay law enforcers have their work cut out for them. It’s no secret that the River Boys — Casey, Darryl and Heath — are the fictionalised version of the infamous Bra Boys, the Maroubra-based surf gang led by Sunny and Koby Abberton. The River Boys even have “Blood and Sand” tattoos (it takes two hours in makeup everyday) that are reminiscent of the Bra Boys’ tattoos that read “My Brother’s Keeper”. Sunny told The Sun Herald that the homage is “flattering in a funny way” and that he has no problems with the inspired plotlines as long as “it’s not making it into a negative thing about being territorial on the beach.” Will you tune into Home and Away to catch the River Boys?
Home and Away airs weeknights at 7pm on Channel Seven.
