Check it out! 1,900 of these invites for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s (oops, we mean Catherine) big April 29 wedding have been sent out, and us regular folk who won’t be expecting mail from the royal family can get our own look at the invite! The design is very simple, measures 10 by six inches, and features Queen Elizabeth II’s golden insignia, as well as a dress code of either “Uniform, Morning Coat or Lounge Suit.” If you think 1,900 sounds like a massive amount of people to entertainment, this number is only for the wedding ceremony. The Queen’s reception that will follow is only for a lucky 600, which will most likely constitute of family and close friends.
The invites were sent out last Wednesday and Thursday and the Daily Mail reports that “more than half” are friends of Wills and Kate. Royalty and leaders from around the world have also been invited, however US President Obama and his wife Michelle reportedly didn’t receive one (the wedding isn’t a “formal state affair” because William isn’t the sovereign or immediate heir). Also on the non-invited list? Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, who apparently said she never expected to be invited. However Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Governor-General Quentin Bryce will be heading to London for the festivities. What do you think of the royal wedding invite?
