Eddie Murphy to Host the 2012 Oscars

Eddie Murphy to Host the Oscars in 2012

Director Brett Ratner is producing next year's Oscars, and he has chosen Eddie Murphy to host the show. Earlier this year, Billy Crystal had expressed interest, but Murphy, who recently worked with Ratner on Tower Heist, has come out on top.

Even though the movies Murphy has appeared in over the last few years haven't been my favourites, I actually think he'll be entertaining. Let's face it — the critically panned hosting job of James Franco and Anne Hathaway won't be a hard act to follow, and Murphy has the advantage of years of stand-up comedy experience. What do you think — will Murphy be a good Oscar host, or do you have someone else in mind for the job?
