Emma Stone Officially Cast in Spider-Man Reboot as Gwen Stacy, Not Mary Jane Watson

Emma Stone Will Be Gwen Stacy, Not Mary Jane Watson

With her fiery red mane, everyone assumed that when Emma Stone would be offered a role in the Spider-Man reboot as one of Peter Parker’s love interests, it would be as redheaded Mary Jane Watson, who was played by Kirsten Dunst in the previous films. Wrong! Turns out Emma has been officially cast in the new movie, but as Peter’s high school girlfriend Gwen Stacy. Emma is actually a natural blonde, which means we’ll probably see her return to her roots for the movie. (Interestingly, redhead Bryce Dallas Howard played blonde Gwen in Spider-Man 3.) Director Marc Webb said, “The chemistry between Andrew [Garfield] and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice.” Now this means the role of Mary Jane needs to be filled. Could the actresses we were choosing for Gwen now be in the running for MJ?
