The nation held its breath for a few hours yesterday when Australian Labor Party minister Simon Crean held a press conference to call for Prime Minister Julia Gillard to spill all federal ALP leadership positions. By the end of the afternoon, Julia Gillard was still Prime Minister because Kevin Rudd didn’t challenge her in the leadership ballot, and Simon Crean became a backbencher after Julia sacked him from his ministerial position.
