We’ve missed having a regular fix of Hamish Blake and Andy Lee. Yes, we know they scaled back their radio duties from every weekday to once a week, and we know Hamish has been busy filming his movie Two Little Boys in New Zealand, but it seems they’ve played their career cards well and are about to sign a deal that will make them among the highest-paid stars on Australian TV.
In a move that sees them jump ship from the Ten Network and partner with Channel Nine, the comedy duo will produce and perform in a minimum of 10 hours of TV a year through their production company Radio Karate. The deal’s worth? Reportedly around the $15-17 million mark. The financial side hasn’t been confirmed and their rep told the Daily Telegraph, “I can’t comment on the dollar aspect only to say that what has been speculated is not right at all and so far the deal with Nine really hasn’t been finalised,” but it’s not the only thing working in their favour. The deal with Nine means the sports-obsessed duo will be able to create content around major sporting events like the London Olympics (remember their guide to India before the Commonwealth Games?). Stay tuned — we’ll most likely get an official announcement on Friday from the pair on their radio show!
