Ever since Hamish and Andy announced their decision to scale back their radio duties to once a week instead of five days, naturally we were a little devo that we’d be getting less of our Hamish Blake fix. But the winner of our Hottest Male Celeb for 2010 has just announced his plan for 2011: a movie. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Hamish will be co-starring with Bret McKenzie (of Flight of the Conchords) in a New Zealand comedy called Two Little Boys, which is due to start filming in January.
Hamish and Bret will star as Deano and Nige respectively, and the film will follow their “riotous misadventures as they struggle with their imploding long-term friendship, which has been put under pressure by an unfortunate incident involving a hot meat pie, a ginger cat and the untimely death of a Scandinavian soccer star.” The randomness of it all sounds perfect for Hamish, who this year travelled to Ireland and India with Andy to film two specials for Channel Ten. And what does Andy think of it all? Hamish jokes:
“I don’t feel comfortable about cheating on Andy but now it’s all out there. We’ve always had an open comedic relationship, but it was for one-night stands only, no exchange of phone numbers. I’ve heard them [Andy and Jemaine Clement, Bret’s comedic partner] whispering on the phone, plotting to do their own movie to release on the same day to sink ours.”
And a very Happy Birthday to Hamish, who turns 29 tomorrow!
