Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal joined their Prisoners castmates today at the Toronto International Film Festival's premiere of the drama. The emotional film is not only one of the most critically acclaimed to emerge from this year's festival scene, but it was also a favourite of fans today, who gathered outside the Elgin Theater hours in advance for a chance to glimpse its stars. Hugh and Jake fielded hugs, selfies, and general fawning from adoring bystanders before the screening, where they were joined by fellow stars Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Paul Dano. Paul, who recently hurt himself playing basketball, pushed through the injury and arrived walking with the help of a cane and his girlfriend, Zoe Kazan.

Prisoners, helmed by French director Denis Villanueve, follows the story of two missing girls and the lengths their families and a driven detective (played by Jake) go to as they search for them. Hugh and Jake have both downplayed the early Oscar buzz the film is garnering. Hugh told USA Today he characterised the movie as an "underdog," while Jake said he thinks it's "too early" to talk about the project's chances come awards season.
